And because I want to be in a sunny mood… sunny up with hot sauce and rye toast.
The lines were very long at the polling place this morning, and I got there 15 minutes after it opened. Happily, there are more than one ward at this polling place and I am in the smallest, so our line was relatively quick. Quite a few of the people I saw struck me as being “blue collar”.
I may go to a movie today (on Tuesday’s all movies and all times only $5 and you get free popcorn), and perhaps take in a shop not out of keeping with my chapeau.
Tonight, I’ll probably watch the returns with clerics of my acquaintance.

I refuse to be down about the possible election results. So, I’ve gone to the talkies.

I enjoyed the talkies: Doctor Strange… which was strange, but it did the trick in that I didn’t think about the election.
I had an great experience of a stranger doing me a good turn, and I had a dreadful experience with two gas station employees (who may have defied the Peter Principle).
And now, having picked up dry cleaning, I can start packing for a trip on Thursday.
As far as the news is concerned, I have my fingers in ears and I’m humming Gregorian chants.

Not to sound like the Grimm Reaper, or anything … But I predicted a negative outcome for this election before Trump even campaigned. In a country where the ability to reason is uncommon we must come to expect unreasonable outcomes where people are involved. When it comes to the Church, it is receptive suffering that brings about (historically, and after the example of our blessed Lord) the greatest number of conversions. Nobody wants to suffer. But it is–always–a blessing in the end. Pray God that our suffering will be delayed. Yet, such a delay would take a miracle in our milieu.
At some point, I hope you get to see “Queen of Katwe”.
Our college is giving free tacos to everyone who voted. Talk about subliminal campaigning!

Not to change the subject, but in order to help get my mind off the election (and like you I did vote), the last two Saturdays I went to the movies. Hacksaw Ridge was worth seeing (you would make a fine Chaplain for the Wisconsin ANG) and so was the Sully movie. These two films were also about men who took action and didn’t worry too much about the outcome. I recommend both films, particularly for men to see.
Father, did you (surreptitiously) exorcise and bless the polling place?

Looks like a Marcus Theatre! That’s what we have here and I love them, not only for $5 movie day, but because they caption every movie!

Speaking of movies: did you ever discuss Hail, Caesar, and I miss it? I’ve run into some interesting observations about it, online (where and by whom, I don’t remember…), and am not sure whose intention is showing, where, but (spoiler alert) I like it that it ends with the Pater Noster in Church Slavonic (not Stravinsky’s setting, though).

I have never been so happy to be wrong [in my above prediction]. May God be praised for leading us into a brighter future than we otherwise faced. Wisconsin: I am impressed that you voted for the GOP nominee. Maybe four years from now Minnesota will follow your lead, coming to its senses.
I must share my delight that my prayers have been answered. Although I have no direct concern about whoever is elected in the USA ( I am an Australian) I must say that my prayers, this day, have been answered. I begged Almighty God not to allow that evil woman become the POTUS. Thank you Almighty God.
