Happy Birthday Blog!

On 8 December 2005, I posted this photo.  This blog project began.

Today is the 12th anniversary of this blog.

This photo was a shot from my apartment window in Rome on the evening of the day Pope Benedict was elected.

I started it with the original intention of it being an archive for articles I was writing for The Wanderer about liturgical translations.  Thus, it’s original name.  That column, by the way, began before the release of Liturgiam authenticam.

By the way, there are only 3 monthly donors on this 8th day of the month. Thousands of daily readers… 3 monthly donors on this day. Just sayin’.  3.

That was the intention, but the blog rapidly took on a life of its own.

Since I started keeping stats, on 23 November 2006, I have had about 84.8 million page views and 55.1 million unique visits.

Dear readers, please accept my thanks for everything, your comments and feedback, your prayers and your patience with me.

Tomorrow, Sat 9 December, I will say Mass for the intention of my benefactors and donors.

This is what the blog looked like back then.  A screen shot from about a month after its inception.

Dear Father, please accept OUR thanks for all you have done. I think I first came across the blog some time around 2006, and it’s (you’ve) been sustaining me ever since.

Bp. McButterpants is probably trying to get someone to explain to him where (and what) the Maledictory Psalms are, so he can use them against you.

Congratulations! Thank you so much for keeping your salo(o)n open for all these years. I tripped in at your place in 2010 or 2011 and I have come here daily since then. Tomorrow I’m getting a nice Christmas card for you – without glitter ;-)

Father, I first visited your blog in 2009, not long after I returned to the Church. It has been so edifying for me and so many to learn about the Faith. Thank you for your deep concern for the state of our souls. Thank you for all the beautiful pictures of the Masses you have celebrated and from your travels. May God bless you, and Our Lady pray for you. +JMJ+

I would like to add my congratulations. I can’t even remember when I first found your blog. But it had to be shortly after you first went “live” with it. It has been an important part of my day/evening for many years. Again thank you Fr. Z.
