Your Good News

Do you have some good news for the readership?  We could all use some.

For my part, I was able the other day to provide the last rites for a fellow who desired every single word in Latin in the traditional form.  There aren’t many around who can do that, so I felt privileged to be in the right place and time to provide for him.   Let us all pray to God that He save us from a sudden and unprovided death, as we did in the Litany… back when we still sang the litanies.

Also, I have had a few nice boots of encouragement from readers who have helped with my “Rome” campaign.  THANK YOU.  And “Thanks!” also to those of you who, yesterday sent me some beer money for International Buy A Priest a Beer Day.

I was able to give some Norcia beer – wonderful stuff – to the Bishop here in Madison, Most Rev. Donald J. Hying, who is turning out to be a terrific successor to the Extraordinary Ordinary.  We’ve had good and productive meetings.  He is getting to know the place and us and we him.  He is “good news” for this diocese, I can tell you!

So, packs of blessings lie upon our backs and, as Friar Lawrence would say, therefore are we happy!

God wins all the time.  We have to pause to see the victories.

I have some good news. My eight year old son said he wants to be a priest and a saint.
Pray for “Archer.” He’s a very good boy. Pray for me that I can raise him to remain pure in a filthy world.

I’m so happy and relieved for you all that you have such a great bishop. We should add him to the list of priests we pray for. His Excellency, Bishop Morlino+, must have had something to do with it all. :)

My good news is that Fr. Calloway’s book is due to come out January 1: Consecration-St-Joseph-Wonders-Spiritual and is available on Amazon.

I live in Kansas but attend the Latin Mass provided by the Kansas City MO Archdiocese in St. Joseph, MO. I am super impressed with all of the young priests in that diocese. They love tradition, wear full cassocks, and pray the Latin Mass when they can. They are now attempting to switch the Catholic schools from their current curriculum to a classical curriculum and have no fear in telling anyone who will listen that their current schools aren’t producing good Catholics. It’s a tall order that needs everyone’s prayers, but these priests are willing to do difficult things and suffer for their flock. God Bless them!

My very dear niece, who is also a good friend, took a job several states away from her home state. She made the move because she believed that in this new area, she was more likely to meet a man who, like her is a Catholic, and is looking to marry and have a family and a home. And after just a few month, here in my area, she did meet such a man, and they’ve begun to see each other quite regularly for a couple of months now. His mother gave my niece a Rosary from Lourdes.

How brave and hopeful it is of young men and women of the Millennial generation to undertake traditional Catholic marriage, to bring children into the world, and to raise them as faithful Catholics, too!

Four vocations from our TLM parish. Two are leaving to test their vocations in France at the Institute of the Good Shepherd seminary near Chartres; one has gone to the Fraternity of St Peter seminary in Nebraska; and the fourth to Notre Dame Benedictine monastery in Tasmania. And this past August, one other young man from our parish, newly-ordained, said his first Mass (Solemn Mass in the Dominican rite, first ever in our Church) in the presence of his parents who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Our parish is truly blessed.
And in more good news, seven new priests ordained in our Archdiocese last Sunday.
    Thanks be to God!

The diocese I live in gets queerer every day, but the SSPX mission that I attend now has its own chapel, fully paid for. And I’ve found a helpful (not coddling) confessor too. My struggling SSA self is very grateful.
