YOUR URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS

Please use the sharing buttons! Thanks!

Registered or not, will you in your charity please take a moment look at the requests and to pray for the people about whom you read?

Continued from THESE.

I get many requests by email asking for prayers. Many requests are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

Something is up. I’m getting many more requests for prayers than last year at this time

As long as my blog reaches so many readers in so many places, let’s give each other a hand. We should support each other in works of mercy.

If you have some prayer requests, feel free to post them below. You have to be registered here to be able to post.

I still have a pressing personal petition.

For my vocation! And financing for my vocational trip to Italy

  2. Elizabeth D says:

For the church in my neighborhood, the oldest extant Catholic church in my city, with a stone in the facade saying “Domus Dei et Porta Caeli,” to remain a Catholic church. The powers that be actually refuse to put up a visible sign identifying the church to passing traffic in our very visible location, and it is hard to ignore the whisperings that they expect and plan for this venerable, beautiful, built-to-last-1ooo-years church to close when we build a new cathedral.

For the evangelization of the neighborhood and zeal and engagement of the clergy and laity in the mission of the Church, with hope, faith and charity.

    Hi Friends,

Requesting your prayers, the HR dept. of my company has asked me to bid on a marketing job and will interview me today. Please keep me in your prayers that whatever happens it will be the right situation for me and our family’s future.

  5. Suburbanbanshee says:

For the soul of a devout Catholic lady who passed away unexpectedly due to two aneurysms and various complications, and for her friends and family.

For discernment, energy, and courage for all of us seeking jobs.

  6. MrsMacD says:

For courage for my son, who has something very difficult to do.

  7. jtz622 says:

    Hi,

If everyone could please pray for my depression, so the Lord may have the grace to make it disappear from me.

    Thank you

  8. benedetta says:

I would really appreciate prayers — it seems that the pro-death neo-Malthusian soros/1%/big abortion lobby et al may have activated their (likely very paid) sleeper cells, where I am. I am getting the blowback pretty hard. Their illegal, unethical and terrorist tactics substituting for honest and open lobbying on an issue which the American people departs from their desires for more and more death of children in the womb and more and more torturous and macabre points in their viability as established by science and even roe even countenance harassing minors! Prayers to St. Michael, please.

  9. Maximilia says:

Please pray for a woman at my church, Emmy. She has a tumor that is becoming more and more serious, and she needs a miracle. We are petitioning St. Philomena and Our Lady of Lourdes in particular.

    Thank you.

And if you can, please pray for my vocation, too. I am writing a letter of introduction to a Mother Superior, and I am having trouble.

  10. Latin Mass Type says:

To jtz622 and others suffering from depression: prayer does help. Right now my nearly lifelong depression has lifted in a way it has not before. The only think I can think of that’s changed is more frequent confession to a good priest and some new prayers I have been praying daily. I will pray for you!

As far as my prayer request…the good priest mentioned above has something in the works to implement the Extraordinary Form in our parish. He has asked us to pray for him and I ask that others join in! We can all pray for the growth of the EF worldwide!

  11. Suburbanbanshee says:

Re: depression – Obviously prayer is never going to hurt. But the Good Physician also helps those who help themselves, and who consult earthly physicians.

If it’s winter where you are, make sure you’re getting sunlight or using sunlight lamps, eating and sleeping enough, drinking water, taking your vitamins (especially Vitamin D), talking to people and doing some exercise, keeping to a schedule even if it’s difficult, etc. Examine and rephrase any “Automatic Negative Thoughts,” so that you stop your brain from telling you crazy lies.

All these things can help whatever other help you’re getting, medically and psychologically.

  12. Supertradmum says:

Same request-a permanent place and the ability to live in the same country as my son, or at least get to his ordination when it happens. Need a miracle on all accounts.

  13. VexillaRegis says:

    Prayers for all of you!

My once lovely and lively parish is suffering greatly from the ultra controlling treatment by our pastor. I have found a wonderful way out from being the organist there, but would you please pray for me that it will be a permanent engagement, and that we get a new good priest soon! It’s so bad, that I don’t dare to take my children there anymore :-(( Children, especially boys, should not be exposed to men yelling at and treating women badly. We have no other parish to go to.

    God bless you!

  14. Patti Day says:

For my husband, who has Parkinson’s disease, and who experienced a fall on Monday that caused a small bleed in his brain that further impedes his speech and movement.

  15. Penta says:

I would appreciate prayers for my job search. Not only am I not getting many leads for work where I am, but every job I see in my field wants experience I don’t have and can’t get without a job. Or they want a driver’s license and a car (since I’m blind, that isn’t happening). And since I’m on disability, moving isn’t really an option either. I feel very much marooned on a desert island.

  16. gheg says:

Please pray for my friend, who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and is scheduled for a radical hysterectomy.

  17. Please pray for someone in her 40s who has recently left the noviciate. That she may be able to rebuild her life, both spiritually and in terms of house and job.

  18. boko fittleworth says:

For my niece Mary Grace, who has surgery tomorrow. She is a few months old and severely disabled.

  19. catholiccomelately says:

For the safe delivery (coming very soon) by my younger daughter of her first child. And for her husband too as he begins a new job and they prepare to move next month.

  20. mamajen says:

I have learned I have OCD (and have since I was very young). Anyone who knows it knows what a hell it is. I am working through therapy. Please pray for strength, faith and peace.

Also for Travis, who has returned to the Church after a long absence. That he may find the support and compassion he needs.

  21. donato2 says:

jtz622, I highly recommend to anyone suffering from depression the book “Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy” by David Burns. The therapy it concerns in cognitive therapy, which is highly effective and can be done on your own. The book explains how.

    HERE

Another book that may be of interest is “The Catholic Guide To Depression,” by Aaron Kheriaty — but I haven’t read it. I believe however that it deals with the relation between cognitive therapy and prayer.

    HERE

  22. donato2 says:

Mamajen, have you tried bio-feedback for your OCD? I understand that it can be effective in at least some and perhaps most cases.

“I have learned I have OCD (and have since I was very young). Anyone who knows it knows what a hell it is. I am working through therapy. Please pray for strength, faith and peace.”

    Dear Mamajen,

I am pretty current on the literature of OCD. Be aware that psychology and psychiatry take a strictly materialistic view of the affliction. Certain types of anti-depressants can lessen the symptoms (the imipramine class were the earlier types. There is a newer class of drugs on the market, now), but why they work is a mystery (don’t let them tell you, otherwise). There are various other types of treatment, such as immersion therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, bio-feedback (for a limited range of compulsions), hypno-therapy, psychotherapy. Late on-set OCD is much easier to treat than early-onset or childhood OCD. Certain brain tumors and inflammation can, also, create compulsive behaviors (these can be hard to diagnose). Very rarely, spiritual harassment can manifest like this.

If I could contact you, I would discuss the matter in more detail. Orthodox Chick has my contact e-mail, if you want to contact her.

From the spiritual perspective, I would recommend an orthodox spiritual director, because scruples are very easy to develop along with OCD. Prayers to St. Dymphna might help, as well as a properly blessed St. Benedict medal, holy water, blessed salt. I would keep at least some of those with you at all times. Wear the brown scapular.

Again, I wish I had a way to contact you.

  24. The Masked Chicken says:

Would anyone mind if I make some comments about depression? You would be amazed at how much the neuroscience of humor reveals about the neuroscience of depression.

  25. AV8R61 says:

    Prayers offerred for all.

  26. The Masked Chicken says:

I would like to retract my last comments in this post. I should not be getting so personal with people.

  27. Johanna says:

For my husband who is having memory blackouts accompanied by erratic behavior, wild mood swings, and other neurological symptoms. He is also having sleep problems, and all of this has been very hard on him and me and our five children. We would really like to know what is causing all this.

  28. mamajen says:

    donato2,

I have not, but I will look into that–thank you.

    Chicken,

Thank you. If Father Z sees this, and thinks appropriate, he has my permission to pass along my email address. In any case, your prayers and understanding mean a lot.

  29. Indulgentiam says:

Prayers offered for all here. Please pray for a beloved Priest I know who has left the Ministry of Priesthood to rejoin the world. His initials are Father K.B. He had a great love for the TLM. But years of dealing with a hostile to the TLM Bishop, brethren and N.O parishioners I guess took their toll.

Johanna, an orthodox Priest gave me some excellent advice for a similar situation. He told me to pray the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady for the person. And ask Our Lady to reveal the cause. She did. It wasn’t an easy fix but I kept praying the Chaplet and was sustained.
Here is the Chaplet and info on it.

I am offering up the experience of harassment for the intentions of everyone here and joining it with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world today.

  31. mysticalrose says:

Please pray for a friend’s child who was born healthy, but has been suddenly paralyzed. And please pray also that my husband finds a new job and that the Lord blesses his career change. I will remember all of your intentions in my daily rosary.

I don’t understand why such priests don’t consider joining a group oriented toward Latin liturgy.

  33. robtbrown says:

Addendum: Or at least transferring to a diocese with a bishop not hostile toward Latin liturgy.

  34. OrthodoxChick says:

Praying for all of the intentions here.

My family and I would appreciate prayers that the Lord’s Will be done with regard to our housing situation. We’re in the process of purchasing our first home. It’s modest and in a location that will take us a good 40 minutes south from where we presently live. That brings with it a certain sense of fear of the unknown and a lot of change, but we’ll be grateful to have a roof over our heads to call home, if the deal goes through. If we’re able to get this house, it will also move us into the same neighborhood as an FFI friary – which would be an enormous Blessing!

    mamajen,

Since Fr. Z. is both on the road and under the weather, if you (and Fr.) would find it easier, I’m happy to be the go-between for you and TMC. Please feel free to get in touch with me, if you like. My email address is sweetpeaboobootweetandsisigmailcom.

  35. OrthodoxChick says:

P.S. There’s an “@” sign before the word gmail, but I’m hoping that leaving it out will help ward off auto spammers and such.

  36. Indulgentiam says:

    @robtbrown
I don’t know why he didn’t either. He’s a diocesan young Priest. Maybe he doesn’t know he has that option? I’ll pass it on to his best friend. Thank you.

  37. Bea says:

    Prayed for all the above.

Please pray for my husband who goes to the doctor tomorrow to see if his treatment worked on reducing his PSA and holding back the cancer.

  38. PA mom says:

    For me. My family.

  39. lgreen515 says:

I was diagnosed with pneumonia last night. Please pray for my recovery.

  40. LeslieL says:

I am a wee bit late this time – but I promise you, I keep your petitions and Fr. Z’s intention deep in my heart and prayers….
Please keep a special intention for my dear friend and young priest, Fr. JM, in your heart and prayers, too! Thank you so much…..

  41. jameeka says:

OK, this is not urgent ( I guess), but…please pray that somehow Archbishop Sample can help bring beautiful music back into the Catholic liturgy. Oy.
