Beauty break

Wow…

From Astronomy Pic of the Day: Explanation: Above this boreal landscape, the arc of the Milky Way and shimmering aurorae flow through the night. Like an echo, below them lies Iceland’s spectacular Godafoss, the Waterfall of the Gods. Shining just below the Milky Way, bright Jupiter is included in the panoramic nightscape recorded on March 9. Faint and diffuse, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) appears immersed in the auroral glow.

Look up and see the heavens, count the stars if you can.

BENEDICITE, sol et luna, Domino, benedicite, stellae caeli, Domino.

  4. Thank you, Father! I needed that! It reminds me of one of my favorite verses – Baruch 3, 34-35
“And the stars have given light in their watches, and rejoiced: They were called, and they said: Here we are: and with cheerfulness they have shined forth to him that made them.”

Definitive proof of the Hand of God. What a wonderful Creator we have!

Beautiful photo! I hope and wish that in my lifetime I will be able to see the sky at night as it really is.

Looking up at the starry sky at night how can one not believe that God exists? Electricity is nice but it creates a world that blots out God’s creations.

I used to be a huge mountain climber, and there is nothing like being 500 miles from any big city, and seeing the sky illuminated by billions of stars!

  8. NBW says:

That’s kind of scary Fr. Z. Maybe the Amish are on to something. :)

This may be the perfect new background for my desktop.

It IS kind of scary, NBW.

This brings to mind the Aurora Borealis just before World War II broke out.
    Is something looming?
That God is warning us about?
    Or are the “warnings” over?
    And our time has come?

Bellisimo Fr. Z! (may have spelled that wrong) Amazing. I agree with all comments. LiteratureAddict, that is so beautiful. I love the idea of the stars being cheerful.
I cannot imagine looking upon such a scene. Heaven must be full of such sights!

  12. PostCatholic says:

Thanks be to the gods for their waterfall.

(I jest. It is a beautiful natural phenomenon and it’s no wonder it inspires people to spiritual thoughts.)
