UPDATED – Church burned down on anniversary of SCOTUS Dobbs decision. HELP THEM! ACTION ITEM!

UPDATE: 8 August 23

I received word that investigators found that an accelerant was used. Therefore, this was arson.

And to be clear this is a CATHOLIC Church of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Peter, set up under Benedict XVI, the Pope of Christian Unity.

My heart goes out.   I saw this awful news and the appeal at Rorate.

RORATE CHURCH DRIVE – PLEASE GIVE – Ordinariate Church Destroyed by Fire in Florida

The beautiful Church of the Incarnation, an Ordinariate Church located in Orlando, Florida, was destroyed by fire on the anniversary of the Dobbs decision that reversed Roe. It may have been a coincidence — or not, as the parish had always been vocal in their pro-life advocacy.

THIS FIRST RORATE CHURCH DRIVE is dedicated to the rebuilding of their Church, so loved for its faithful and beautiful rites. Their donation page is here. Please donate often and as much as you can.

Thank you!

Again… donation page is HERE

I truly hope it was an electrical fire and not arson.

From the news article in June about the fire, here is a quotation from the pastor, Fr. Holiday: “As far as the interior of the church, particularly the alter [sic, thanks copyeditors!] area, where it looks like everything was centered, that is absolutely destroyed there is nothing left up there.” (emphasis added)

Uh-huh. The fire was centered on the altar/sanctuary area, and it took this long to make the determination that this was arson? Really?

While I know that the secular world, and probably the Catholic world too, will celebrate Dobbs every June 24th from now on, I will also celebrate it on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, because the knowledge and intent of a mostly-Catholic SCOTUS was clear in their decision to release on that very holy day. It is truly, unmistakably, a victory of that self-same Sacred Heart. Praised be the Name of Jesus.
