Civil War Daily Gazette

I think for a while I will be following the day by day developments of the American Civil War via the Civil War Daily Gazette.

150 year after the fact, this site has a blog/magazine format and covers the events of the war.

Retro-new media.

My friends down South would say “Y’all are calling it by the wrong name. It’s the War of Northern Aggression and is still going on!”

I learned it as the “War Between the States” in grammar school (Charlotte County, VA) during the centennial in the 60’s. Wasn’t until we moved north of Mason-Dixon in 66 that I heard it referred to as the “Civil War”.

There were folks, in town (Keysville, VA), whose grandfathers fought. They do take pride in that heritage, if not the reason for the “Late Unpleasantness” necessarily.

    (full disclosure: I am a reenactor…)
