Henry Sire: “Archbishop Viganò is now living in fear of his life, quite literally.”

From the Twitter feed of the author of The Dictator Pope.

1) IMPORTANT NEWS: my sources confirm that Archbishop Viganò is now living in fear of his life, quite literally. As everyone knows, Archbishop Viganò went into hiding after his explosive revelations. But he is not just trying to avoid canonical reprisals…

2) He has confided to his friends that he now has good reason to be in fear of his life. We need to reflect on what this implies. If, six years ago, Dan Brown had published a novel telling the present story just as it is, he would have been ridiculed as presenting…

3) … a grotesquely sensationalist picture of the Catholic Church. This is the measure of what Pope Francis has achieved in just five-and-a-half years. He has taken the Church back to the age of the Borgias, with all the disembellishments of the twenty-first century.

4) And things are only going to get worse.

CLARIFICATION: With respect to my earlier tweet, I can indeed confirm, based on impeccable inside sources, that Abp. Viganò is not only in hiding, but that he fears for his life. However, I am not privy to the reasons for his anxiety about his safety. Henry Sire

Tomorrow I will offer Holy Mass for him, in thanksgiving for his heroic witness and the destruction of his enemies.

  2. roma247 says:

It really is crucial that we start to take a long-term view of the situation we are in.

I find it easy to believe, as many others do, that this truly is the final crisis, and that the Second Coming may not be far off. Whether or not this is true, God’s time is not our time, and His ways are not our ways. “Behold, I come quickly” could mean a very long time to a God for whom millions of years are but a day.

Either way, we have to be reading our Bibles and all the Marian prophesies of the past century or more, because together they construct a picture that is quite clear, and it matches with eerie detail the situation we currently find ourselves in. “The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their Confreres.” (Our Lady of Akita)

Gone are the days when we had to pretend to listen to people like James Martin and Blase Cupich and twist ourselves into pretzels in order to deal with the cognitive dissonance between their lunatic ravings and what the Church really teaches. I think all of us now know that it is time to fight for our Holy Mother Church, to the death if that becomes necessary.

But we have to be wise as serpents while we are being gentle as doves, and that means we have to wake up from our self-inflicted stupor and see that these people have been following a very specific organized agenda for nearly a century, perhaps more. There is great irony when we now say “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” The current lunatics running the asylum that the Vatican has now become, have not been stumbling into their success in destroying the Church; that was their objective all along. And what they are doing now that a light has been shone into their darkness can tell us a lot about what is still to come. The landmines are already under our feet, but if we can expect them with greater accuracy, we may be able to mitigate the amount of collateral damage they will cause.

    SO…things to keep in mind:
    1. Stop trying to convince yourself that Pope Francis and his cronies have had the best of intentions all along, and are just doing their best to help the Church, despite their misguided beliefs. If there has been any lingering doubt about this since the Vigano report, the combination of silence, deflection and smear tactics should by now have put this idea to rest. Vigano may have collapsed their timeline, but be assured that every step has been very intentional.

    2. Stop daydreaming that Pope Francis is going to resign and that everything is going to come right. We are not fighting against people with good intentions.
“For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. Therefore take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand in all things perfect.” (Eph 6:12-13)
These people WANT TO DESTROY THE CHURCH. They are watching us writhe in agony and are laughing themselves silly. OK, so the curtain has been pulled, but things are still going swimmingly toward their end goal.

    3. Pay attention to what the Mouth(s) of Sauron (i.e. the Pope and his defenders) are saying. [Here’s the deal. I understand that some people want to and need to “vent” a little. I get that. However, in my combox I expect people to keep their filters engaged. One filter is this: If I write this, will I convince or repel. Another filter: If I write this, will Fr Z be smeared with what I wrote because it slipped through? I’ll let your comment stand for today. I did put that “Think before posting” note on the combox form for a reason.] Have you noticed that they are carefully building a wall around all those who care about the allegations? That wall is not a defensive wall for them, it is an enclosing ghetto wall for us. They are attempting to close us in so that once we are ghettoized, disarmed and helpless, they can and will unleash the dogs on us. What dogs, you ask? Look at what is happening to Brett Kavanaugh and you can get a foretaste. Add a major demonic presence, since our foes are largely going to be the rabid, crazed homosexualists who will show us no mercy in persecuting us for “perscuting gays” and a million other imaginary crimes against the New World Order. Prepare.

Given all of the above, we need to be able to build networks of REAL CATHOLICS that will allow us to withstand this onslaught, because they will want to divide and conquer as they always have. Supporting each other will be crucial. If the devil can turn Cardinal against Cardinal, he can turn brothers, sisters, parents, children, all against each other. They will accuse us of being hateful. We will have to prove them wrong by abounding in love, even for our enemies. They will accuse us of using Politics to advance our patriarchal, out-of-date, rigid ideas of what a Church should be. We will have to live the faith of our Fathers with great joy instead. Most of all, we will be tempted to despair as we see more and more souls being devoured by the demons that have been unleashed on our Sodom and Gomorrah. We will need to keep our eyes fixed on the Heavenly Country that is our true homeland and keep fighting the good fight until we reach our reward one way or another.

That’s a tall order. But we’ve got an ark to build, and the storm is already upon us. The sooner we stop daydreaming, the sooner we can get building!

Archbishop Vigano, we are praying and fasting for you. Please don’t let fear grip you. You have done your Lord a great service and He will reward you abundantly for it. God bless you.

  3. Prayerful says:

Pope Francis as Fr Bergoglio SJ was something of a supporter of the Galtieri junta. The claims that he betrayed two slum priests were denied five years ago, and originated with a radical left journalist, but the response to the claims can be placed aside more recent incidents where the evidence is clear. Evasion of responsibility and the bending of truth can be seen in the response to the claims over the two young Jesuits who suffered torture and blamed their Superior, Fr Bergoglio SJ.

  4. monstrance says:

To have Archbishop Viganò taken out by the Lavender Mafia would not help their cause.
He is already a hero – they don’t want to make him a martyr.
Besides, the cat is already out of the bag.
Are they going to wack every bishop that has spoken in suppport ?

  5. The Astronomer says:

The in-your-face attitude of the Lavender Mafia’s principal public faces (Cupich, Tobin, Wuerl, Martin, Fernanez, Paglia, ‘Cocco-boy”, Sirica, et al) in the wake of the Vigano’ disclosures seems to be a triumphant regurgitation of the 1980s homosexual activist group ACT-UP’s motto:

    “We’re here, We’re QUEER….GET USED TO IT.”

Sts. Padre Pio and Peter Damian, pray for us.

  6. The Astronomer says:

On a related note, Father Z, is it still the case that “Sodomy is a sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance”? What are the Catholic moral/doctrinal/theological references underpinning this?

I was told by a priest it’s not in the Catechism, so it’s not a belief of the RC Church. Your assistance here would be sincerely appreciated.

  7. PostCatholic says:

Fear for his life? Is there an assassin squad of Swiss guards who comb the corners of the globe? And if so, won’t the orange and blue camo give them away?

  8. JabbaPapa says:

Having grown up in a European microstate, I can well understand how the excellent Monsignor Viganò could genuinely be worried …

  9. JabbaPapa says:

    Astronomer,

CCC 1867 The catechetical tradition also recalls that there are “sins that cry to heaven“: the blood of Abel, the sin of the Sodomites, the cry of the people oppressed in Egypt, the cry of the foreigner, the widow, and the orphan, injustice to the wage earner.

  10. The original Mr. X says:

On a related note, Father Z, is it still the case that “Sodomy is a sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance”? What are the Catholic moral/doctrinal/theological references underpinning this?

It’s from Genesis 18.20 f.: “Then the Lord said, ‘Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry which has come to me.'”

I was told by a priest it’s not in the Catechism, so it’s not a belief of the RC Church. Your assistance here would be sincerely appreciated.

Then your priest is wrong. The Catechism is intended to be a compendium of Catholic doctrine, but it has no special doctrinal status itself; it’s possible for a true doctrine not to be included, or for a false doctrine to be put in.

  11. The original Mr. X says:

To have Archbishop Viganò taken out by the Lavender Mafia would not help their cause.
He is already a hero – they don’t want to make him a martyr.

Yes, exactly. If I were a member I’d be praying that Vigano continues to enjoy good health for as long as possible, because if he turns up dead, it would seem to confirm everything he says and more about corruption in the Church.

Then again, sin proverbially makes you stupid, so I honestly wouldn’t be too surprised if at least some of the Lavender Mafiosi think that offing him would be a good idea.

  12. Liz says:

    Praying often for Archbishop Vigano.

  13. richdel says:

Before people begin envisioning albino monks hunting for Vigano, it is important to realize that if the present agenda that some in Church leadership are pushing comes to fruition, it will have far-reaching ripple effects for the rest of society. It is not only forces within the Church that are working to liberalize the Church’s teachings on sexuality; it is a coordinated effort between forces within and without. We don’t have to consider the efforts to hunt down Vigano as being ordered by cardinals chortling away their afternoons over cardinales.

  14. Dismas says:

It’s not outside of belief for harm to come to Archbishop Viganò. The Lavender Mafia has lots of money, now complete control over a sovereign bank with a long history of money laundering, and a tremendous penchant for vices that are readily supplied by the Mafia Proper.

The mask is falling, and at a certain point, eliminating the troublesome voice is no longer as great of a liability as the benefit of silencing him and his fellow travelers. There is precedent, and sometimes it backfires (see Ciaphas).

  15. Elizabeth D says:

I assume the worries that his life is in danger have to do with what state intelligence actors are capable of, on behalf of states who are invested in the corrupt status quo in the Church. Killing him would not be to stop him (he already did what he did) but to send an unambiguous message (like the Skripal poison attack was said to be motivated by, that Santa Marta receptionist’s death was also considered suspicious and could have been meant to intimidate), and if that is so Vigano may be in danger of murder for as long as he lives. It may be that intelligence about a credible threat was communicated to him, or that he is well aware of how it is because of what his work has been, which may be part of why he left the Vatican for points unknown, discarding his old cell phone, immediately before release of his testimony. Notice that no one at the Vatican has scoffed or made fun of him saying his life is in danger–at least as far as I have seen. They know that possibility is real. Maybe they have also seen that intelligence? He may be someplace different now than when he first left the Vatican, he may have kept moving, I imagine him someplace quiet where he can pray and where he even might remain permanently. He was once a nuncio in Africa which is probably full of out of the way places where people aren’t tuned in to this news and where he has trusty friends. But he must know people all around the world.

  16. Fallibilissimo says:

Man…this is getting out of hand on all sides. Roma247, did you really just call our Holy Father the mouth of Sauron? Really??? Do you know any saints in the Church who spoke like that of their superiors (even if corrupt), let alone the Pope?
That last one is not a rhetorical question btw. I’ve been finding saints only saying the opposite.

  17. crjs1 says:

Good grief, Roma247 are you really calling the Holy Father the Mouth of Sauron?? You may believe the Pope is wrong but you can’t see into his soul or judge his motivations. Does charity mean nothing now? Rabid attacks on the Pope does nothing to help the traditional Orthadox cause.

  18. robtbrown says:

    PostCatholic says:

Fear for his life? Is there an assassin squad of Swiss guards who comb the corners of the globe? And if so, won’t the orange and blue camo give them away?

Do you think the Swiss Guard is the only security in the Vatican? The Guard is there for show and for people who respond to polite requests.

There is also Vatican security that is well-armed with Glocks, Birettas, and sub Machine guns.

And why are you assuming that such an order would come from the Vatican? There are powerful secular organizations and networks that have an interest in what has begun to be exposed by Vigano’.

Who do you think wanted the button pushed on Calvi and Sindona?

  19. FN says:

Not to pile on Roma247, but it HAS occurred to me recently that the language used about the Pope at e.g. Canon212 would not sound odd coming from fanatical Catholic-haters. We have to be careful not to let the Enemy get a toehold in our minds by driving out our Christian charity towards these poor, terminally confused and sinning men. Speak honestly by all means but let’s avoid irresponsible hyperbole.

  20. roma247 says:

Father Z et. al., please allow me to beg your pardon. Yes, I did think, but obviously my thoughts were muddled by my frustration and I went a bridge too far.

I do not seek to excuse myself for making such a comparison, but lest anyone think that I number among those who spew venom about the Church, I hope to at least lessen the impact of my statement by a brief explanation…

I do feel lately as though we are marching inexorably toward that dreadful battle before the gates of Mordor, and it is so easy to fall prey to the trap of despair that the forces of good found there.

The comparison, then, was merely meant to spur us on to pay no attention to that trap, and to rally faith in our cause for the right, no matter what Frodo’s true fate may be.

Not to liken Pope Francis to…that.

Know that I am praying for him and his defenders.

  21. Jacques says:

The best place where to hide for Mgr Vigano is in Russia under the personal protection of Vladimir Putin.
I hope he is already there: Nobody in the world will be able to find him let alone to shoot him.

  22. Marion Ancilla Mariae II says:

Excerpts from an article posted by Brother Joseph, SFO (Secular Franciscan Order), on his blog, “Saint Francis Speaks” on Jan. 27, 2010 (SaintFrancisSpeaks.blogspot.com)

“How could anyone respect a sinful priest?! St. Francis did!

“St. Francis wanted all of his brothers to honor and lovingly obey all members of the clergy, especially priests who have, as St. Paul said, ‘the responsibility of watching over your souls’. Francis’ rationale for honoring the clergy is based on the fact that it is GOD that has decided to act through them . . . to bring Christ back into the world physically, during the Mass, and HE ALWAYS deserves our honor and respect! . . .

“St. Francis said, ‘If I were to meet at the same time some saint coming down from heaven and any poor little priest, I would first pay my respects to the priest and proceed to kiss his hands first. I would say, “Ah, just a moment, St. Lawrence, because this person’s hands handle the Word of Life and possess something that is more than human. These hands have touched my Lord, and no matter what they be like, they could not soil Him or lessen His virtue . . . To honor the Lord, honor His minister . . . He can be bad for himself, but for me he is good.”’ (About a priest accused of a sinful life) . . .

“[Saint] Francis explains to St. Lawrence why he acts like this: ‘this person’s hands handle the Word of Life and possess something that is more than human.’ This is why Francis wants ‘to kiss his hands.’ The priest is the one God has given the power to bring Christ into the world again.

“St. Lawrence, St. Francis points out, was honored by both God and Church, but was still no more than a man – nothing ‘more than human’. Though the poor priest was also just a man, he also ‘possessed something that is more,’ something Divine. This ‘something’ did a miraculous thing: it allowed Christ, who the heavens and earth cannot contain, to enter the world transformed into what appears to be common food – bread and wine – for love of us! Alleluia!

“St. Lawrence, a martyr for Christ, proved faithful to God in life and death. Shouldn’t this faithful servant of God be shown greater respect (and get it first!) before this unproven priest?! Remember, when Jesus was asked if few would be saved He urgently replied ‘Try your hardest . . . for many are called but few are chosen.’ Judas was an APOSTLE, specially chosen by Jesus and ALSO had the gift of the priesthood. In the end, however, he proved to be the BETRAYER of Christ. St. Paul said, ‘Do not judge before the time for God alone knows the human heart’ and ‘I don’t count myself as being secure but continue to strive in faith for that which I have been called to receive.’ This is proof that none of us are safe – not even Apostles or priests! Therefore, this priest (unlike St. Lawrence) might not even make it into heaven! Who, then, deserves the greater respect, St Lawrence, perfected and already welcomed into heaven or this priest who, even if faithful now could prove unfaithful in the future?!

“None of these arguments change(s) the fact that the power to bring Christ into the world and offer Him to men . . . was in this poor priests hands! No matter how holy, faithful and good St. Lawrence is . . . He is nothing compared to Christ, who deserves ALL glory, honor and thanks!

“St. Francis really gets to that which concerns us most in what he says next, ‘no matter what they be like, they could not soil Him or lessen His virtue.’ We might feel justified in ignoring or despising a sinful priest. However, the priest’s failings should not determine how we . . . treat them since Francis explains that Christ, in all His goodness and power, cannot be diminished by any man, no matter how sinful he is. Christ remains, in any priest’s hands, THE SAME HOLY POWERFUL GLORIOUS PERSON, deserving of all honor and praise.

“The gifts of God, including the priesthood, are things given us by God freely, without conditions, without our even being deserving. . .

“What God gives He does not take back. ‘Let every man be unfaithful but God will always be faithful to His promises to us,’ St. Paul said. The gift of the priesthood wasn’t given because we deserved it but because we NEEDED it, God had the power to give it and because His heart is so filled with love for us. You can hear the wonder in Francis’ voice over this gift when he says, ‘These hands have touched my Lord’.

“Francis tries to make his point about honoring priests even clearer: ‘To honor the Lord, honor His servant.’ The servant is here to act and speak on His Master’s behalf. The priest, though just a servant, brings us eternal gifts from God! Since the Master is not present physically the only way to honor Him is to honor His representative – the priest. You are honoring the priest not for any ability or knowledge of his own but because he was sent by God – who deserves all honor and thanks for the gifts carried in His messengers hands.

“When someone insisted that Francis was asking too much by saying we should respect even sinful priests, Francis responded, ‘He can be bad for himself, but for me he is good.’ The priest is ‘good for’ Francis in that, as long as the Church recognizes him AND he remains faithful to the teachings of Christ AND has not committed a sin which indicates A TOTAL betrayal of Christ – he should be honored for the ‘good’ he brings from Christ – the Body and Blood of Christ! If he is ‘bad’ then the bad he does affects himself and not [Saint] Francis and his followers who have placed their trust in God. We can see that St. Francis wants us to stay focused on Christ and His power working through this sinful priest as he fulfills his priestly function.

“One final note: Church scholars recognize the fact that St. Francis played a pivotal role in reforming the Church during his life. At the time, the Church was extremely corrupt, it’s power was marginalized and heretical movements were on the rise everywhere. At this time the Pope had a dream about a poor beggar steadying St. John Lateran’s Church – the Church in Rome – as it appeared about to crumble into a pile of debris. This dream was fulfilled in St. Francis. The pope recognized the face of the beggar in his dream as that of Francis when he saw him for the first time the very next day!

“It was [Saint] Francis’ example of love, respect and humble obedience to the Church, especially toward priests, that transformed the Church. This is the way God ALWAYS works through His servants. Remember St. Paul taught ‘The weapons of our warfare are not of this world but heavenly and spiritual in nature and are able to demolish fortresses!’ The world fights with weapons, angry yelling and cursing which creates resentment, bitterness and vengeful actions. Christ teaches us to fight with humility, gentleness, generosity, selflessness and love. Remember, ‘We conquer hatred with love’ and ‘Fight evil with good.’ This is what Christ taught and what Francis practiced. The way to change sinful priests is to give them a true example of the humble and pure Christ and pray earnestly for them to live up to their calling as representatives of Christ. That is the way Christ taught Francis to do it and the way we, as followers and friends of Francis, should do it!

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, Your goal in confronting people in the world was not to condemn them but to save them and give them the power to change. Your servant Francis loved and honored those who were unlovable and had no honor and by doing so, You transformed them in love and honored them with Your glory. Teach us to fight evil with good and hate with love. Transform us into peacemakers so that there will be peace between You and Your children and peace between all Your children and the world. Keep us focused on Your goodness in the face of sin, so that confident in Your power to change things we won’t get discouraged or have our peace and joy diminished in anyway. Our hope is in You dear Lord for we KNOW YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS. Amen.”

I wish to add that the offices of priest, bishop, cardinal and the pope are to be given the greatest possible reverence, and the persons who occupy them, by extension, are to be revered, even when they sin, even when they fall short. They are to be considered gifts from God to the Church, and even when they prove themselves unworthy, we are to TRUST IN GOD, that the damage they do to us and to the Church, He Himself will set right. I don’t mean we’re to look the other way; we should do battle for what’s right, but without failure to revere the offices and the persons of the holy positions of the Church. Even when the cops march them off to prison, and if they are justly imprisoned, the police officers should still march them reverently.

And we should denounce, yes, but without failing in reverence!
