Homosexuals recruit volunteers nationally to go to Minnesota as protesters

Minnesota is ground-zero for defense of true marriage this year.

I predicted that as election day in November 2012 drew nearer, the battle over the defense-of-marriage amendment in Minnesota would get as weird as the legislative battle last year in Madison, WI.  Actually, it will get wierder.

You will recall that liberals and union promoters brought myriad protesters to the state capitol in Madison to fight the governor and his allies.

But in Minnesota….

It might not get quite as noisy as it was in Madison, but it will be more unnatural.

From the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

Marriage amendment: Groups seek volunteers for Minnesota gay rights battle

Three national gay rights groups are recruiting volunteers to send to Minnesota and three other states where gay marriage is on the ballot this fall.

The Human Rights Campaign, Freedom to Marry and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force announced the drive Thursday. They are looking for volunteers willing to spend a full week in one of the four states, or just a weekend.

Minnesota is voting on whether to ban gay marriage in its state constitution. Maine is voting on whether to legalize gay marriage, while Maryland and Washington vote on whether to uphold gay marriage laws passed by their legislatures.

The coalition, which dubbed itself United for Marriage, says it believes 2012 is a crucial year at the ballot box for gay marriage.

Please, please, all of you, stop right now and say a prayer that marriage be defended in Minnesota! I returned home from working in Croatia this summer (Croatia – where Catholicism is still taken seriously) only to find gazillions of “Vote No” posters (i.e. against the defense of true, sacramental marriage) in my neighborhood and to find out that the defense of marriage coalition is being outspent by the “gay marriage” advocates ten to one. I even find that my young Catholic students are for “gay marriage;” so propagandized and misinformed are they by the vociferous and ignorant proponents of false and evil definitions of matrimony. Please, please, stop now and pray a prayer that the sacrament of marriage be preserved in our state! I am but one person; we defenders of the Faith are a minority here; we need your help; we need your novenas.

I’m a Minnesotan, and I agree with Denis. The lawn signs urging a vote in favor of same sex marriage is overwhelming. While every state where this has been put up for vote so far has succeeded in upholding traditional marriage, I am concerned that the state of Minnesota may be the first to buck this trend. Consider: this is the state that elected pro wrestler Jesse Ventura as governor and comedian (?) Al Franken as senator.

@Dennis and Facta, I think it depends on your neighborhood. I’ve seen a few bumper stickers but not many signs. Keep in mind that liberals are more vocal than conservatives, partly because there’s a presumption that everyone in the state is as liberal as the one mouthing off. I think it’s going to be a difficult fight but am not ready to concede defeat.

I have a feeling the obnoxious behavior of these homosexual volunteers will encourage people to uphold real marriage.

It doesn’t surprise me. We had a local town vote to consider a proposition that would repeal a city
ordinance that gave support to the local gay community calling it a ‘hate crime’ if you didn’t hire
someone qualified that was gay, a hate crime if you fired someone gay, etc… So, they called in the
national gay organization and sunk in tens of thousands in literature and even putting people on street corners to support the gay ordinance already in place. They even had quoted Mother Teresa on their literature making it seem as though she were gay friendly. They won, but we put up a heck of a fight, but people were so hesitant to join the fight even with simple yard signs……People NEED to get VOCAL and ACTIVE!!!!

And MN for Marriage has hired several professional community organizers to work on their side. Big whoop.

And none of this will stop gay civil unions or gay adoptions in MN.
