I find this disgusting. This makes me want to have nothing to do with the broadcasts of Olympic competitions. Will I make an exception for all-important curling coverage? I am torn.

I am so utterly, thoroughly, completely sick and tired of gays. And I’m sick of reading about them, hearing about them and seeing them in the media 24/7.
But they never rest. Now they’ve gotten Spanish prosecutors to open an “investigation” into the new Spanish cardinal named by Pope Francis a couple of weeks ago (84 years old and non-voting) because the poor man said in the course of an interview that he thought that homosexuality was a “defect.”
A few years ago, a pretty raunchy television show parodied Star Wars’ famous opening crawl, saying: “A long time ago, when the gays weren’t all in your face about it…”
I can’t even remember what those days were like!
As for the Olympics, complain to the powers-that-be at NBC, but we shouldn’t take it out on the athletes.

This morning during the Olympics coverage whatever station we had on talked about the gold medals and then said, “In the other big sports story today” some guy who just signed with the NFL “came out” during his singing interview. “The other big sports story today”???? It’s only the other big story because they say it is! I could not care less whether every player in the NFL and every other sport were gay. This really has become the defining thing from the Olympics — “How dare some bloodthirsty, corrupt DICTATOR tell ME how to behave when I’m in his country for two weeks????”
No one cared about the immense human rights violations in China during the Olympics there and no one cares about human rights violations in Russia now. They only care about THEMSELVES being, in effect, told to tone it down for two weeks. THE NERVE!! Here’s the deal: Right now, it’s secular dogma that all choices are equal and must be considered equal. So saying no to anyone is actually attacking everyone, because who’s to say you’re not next? Tell someone no, and the whole system goes straight to Hell. On the surface, Vladimir Putin (who, may I say once again, is a DICTATOR in RUSSIA) tells people visiting his country not to tell young people that gay sex is good. And AMERICA freaks out because someone, somewhere, told someone else “no.” AND YOU COULD BE NEXT– AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!
It is kind of amazing (in a truly horrifying way) to watch all of this unfold. Gay activists obviously spent decades infiltrating the media and entertainment industries, though probably not much infiltration was really needed in the entertainment industry. For decades they looked and dressed and talked like everybody else and then, at the prearranged signal it seems, the cork got popped and all of the sudden there is gayness everywhere. Of course there really isn’t, though domination of the media in this day and age can make it seem that way. And this domination of the media makes the self destructive gay lifestyle seem to be something that is a good thing and to be encouraged. My fear is that it is making a lot of people in this upcoming generation that knows nothing but entertainment to go down roads they never would have gone down if it weren’t for all of this self destructive hulabaloo.
A couple of the commercials have been slipping the gay agenda in. The Chevy Traverse commercial very overtly features gay couples. Nice job GM and good luck ever getting me to buy a car from you again. There is one that slipped it in more subtly, but I don’t remember the product.

No Gail, he didn’t sign with anybody because the NFL draft hasn’t happened yet. ESPN had an entire program set up for this guy to announce that he was gay, and now all of the sports outlet have been running it. The guy hasn’t been drafted or anything, it was all about him being gay.

I stopped watching NBC’s Olympics coverage a loooong time ago. It was bearable when they would show an event, including the award ceremony, no matter which country won the gold medal. I liked that because one could see the athletes and hear the national anthems of other countries. It was far more interesting than when they started to show all America, all the time. If there is a truly momentous event, I can catch a video clip of it on the web.
Definitely watch the curling.
I used to enjoy watching the Olympics–I have not watched this year because it is now pushing
an agenda I am also tired of hearing about. Why would anyone expect anything different from NBC?. It is not about someone being unkind–it is now about promoting their in your face agenda. Russia has stopped allowing Russian children from being adopted in the US because they do not want their children to be adopted by a homosexual couple. Catholic adoption agencies in the US are also closing because they are being forced to allow it. This country has it’s own form of dictatorship developing.
Interesting that you do not see the ss groups interrupting prayers in Mosques or in Muslim countries protesting their religious views.
It seems to me that the sports media is pushing the story about the football player –waiting to see if he will be drafted by any NFL team. However it turns out, they will make that the big story. The NFL draft used to be about whether someone could actually play at the professional level.
Now there is a report out that several large US companies are supporting the gay agenda at the Olympics. Those companies are Chevrolet, AT&T, Google, and Chobani (Greek yogurt maker). More companies are joining everyday.

I love the Winter Olympics so much! I am not refusing to watch it on NBC. I have DVR’d everything and I just fast forward through all the blather and propaganda. I focus on the sporting event. I have never been a big fan of figure skating – I like skiing and bobsledding much better.
But in any case, I watched one of the women’s events the other night and an Italian girl skated to Ave Maria. It was so beautiful and her skating was lovely. Focus on the positives.
I’m glad I live near Canada and have CBC coverage.

It would be a mistake to confuse the two. Certainly not all gay men are gender dysphasic and not all gender dysphasic men are gay.
I would not say that featuring Johnny in his chosen attire is “promoting the gay identity,” per se, but I would suggest it more appropriate to say the NBC is showing solidarity with gay Olympians specifically in view of Putin’s pronounced and extreme homophobia.

You make two typically misogynist comments: 1) You think that a woman in a short skirt is obscene. 2) You think a very attractive woman cannot be intelligent.
Four of the women anchors at Fox have law degrees, incl the best looking woman on the network and Jamie Colby, who was a very young lawyer and later a law professor. A few of the others worked at CNBC or CNN. Interesting that so many of the attractive women you object to first worked at other networks.
The only reason so many attractive women are at Fox rather than CNN or MSNBC is because Fox has ratings and can pay more–they took the ones they want. I watched Maria Bartiromo for years on CNBC , but she left, probably to move to Fox Business.

No you don’t get me at all. I don’t in fact believe that a woman in a short skirt or even nudity as it may be practiced on European and some U.S. beaches is at all obscene. What I find obscene is FN’s naked attempt to use female sexuality to sell its product.
I am aware that some of the “talent” on FN have advanced degrees, in fact I am aware of how sometimes the anchors dumb themselves down in order to connect with an audience that sees intellect as a moral flaw. StWinefride, generally speaking, what women wear for figure skating is akin to wearing a bathing suit for swimming, only more modest. The reason the dresses are designed the way they are, are to allow the skater free movement in order to do jumps, spins, etc. I suppose they could wear an outfit similar to that of the men, but someone will inevitably complain that it’s not feminine enough. I don’t buy into this women need to dress in a burka to avoid scandalizing men. If men are tempted by women’s figure skating, they need not watch it.
I am amazed that people are so hard on women’s sports for being immodest, but never make the same accusations of men’s sports such as rugby and wrestling.
On a side note, the gay community is now trying to petition to allow for same sex pairs skating. Not really sure how that’s going to work for lifts and throws.

Actually, I do get you. Wearing a short shirt (or dressing attractively) doesn’t make a woman seem stupid any more than wearing a long skirt (or dressing unattractively) makes her seem smart. Such an attitude is just garden variety Puritanism.
As I’ve said before, Rachel Maddow never has anything to say. She is obviously studied but has zip in insight–has knowledge but lacks understanding. That she is unattractive and a bit Butch doesn’t make her comments seem intelligent.
I have a friend of many years who is, or was, a spectacularly beautiful woman. She didn’t wear short skirts, but it didn’t matter–she looked like a sex pot. In fact, she is very bright and would rather read than go out–BS in Biology, MS in Micro Immunology, then a DVM. She just finished a six month program on medically diagnosed veterinary acupuncture. Also fluent in German.
Another friend, a practicing Catholic in her early 40’s is a workout freak who wears short, tight skirts and often revealing blouses. Ran track and was a gymnast in college. In fact, she is an excellent mother and a ret LTC (hospital admin) who is also a grad of Jump School–she told me she made 50 jumps. Her older daughter looks just like her but has her father’s brains. Very bright, she wants to be a neurosurgeon. BTW, both mother and daughter can do a one hand stand.

No offense, but I cannot understand why any Catholic, especially a family, would have a television in the house. A long time ago, Fulton J. Sheen said it was like having an open sewer in one’s living room. And STILL parents let their kids watch this type of stuff and the SuperBowl half-time and the demonic Grammies.
Parents will have to answer God for this. I saw the still photos of this man and that was horrible enough.

We monitor our kids’ t.v. viewing, mute commercials or switch stations to EWTN during commercials and such, but even that is becoming difficult to do because it’s constant clicking back and forth between stations. I’m getting fed up with paying exhorbitant prices for trash. I’m seriously considering ditching the cable and getting a Roku instead. I have men and boys in the house who are avid sports fans and there’s no way they’ll quit their sports cold turkey. Anyone by chance have a Roku and know if there are sports channels like ESPN and Speed on there?
As for watching the NBC Olympics coverage, I’ve lost interest. I can usually pull up highlights of my favorite sports on the web after the events have concluded.
I just looked up Johhny Weir on Wikipedia since he’s the original subject of this thread and I didn’t know much about him. It said that he’s Roman Catholic but open to other belief systems and that he is considering converting to Judaism since that is the religion that his Georgetown- educated husband of Russian-Jewish descent practices.
