Pence Amendment passed to cut off taxpayer money for Planned Parenthood abortionists

While the newsies focus on Madison WI, in Washington DC it seems that the Pence Amendment to the CR passed 240 to 185.

The Pence Amendment would eliminate federal funding the abortionists at Planned Parenthood for the rest of this fiscal period.

This is a good thing.

    Excellent!

  2. Good!

May all funding to Planned Parenthood, from all sources, be cut off from now until the End of Time. Amen.

  3. Supertradmum says:

A battle won, and we need to remind ourselves that Christ actually has won the war.

  4. Randii says:

Doesn’t this have to be passed by the Senate also? That ain’t gonna happen.

  5. Tony Layne says:

A sobering thought: This is just the first phase of the battle. I don’t foresee the resolution getting past the Senate or Pres. Obama. But then, I publicly predicted McCain would win the ’08 election, so my political foresight is untrustworthy. Continue with the prayers, folks. Still, as Vatican Radio says, Laudetur Jesus Christus!

  6. JohnE says:

It’s debatable whether this will get past the Senate, but perhaps it may still have some usefulness in exposing the evil of the enemy. Lines are being more clearly drawn — in politics as well as other institutions.

  7. Brooklyn says:

Msgr. Philip Reilly, founder of “Helpers of God’s Precious Infants”, and unoffically named Apostle of Life by Fr. Groeschel, and who despite having fought cancer of the face and losing his nose to it, is out every day praying in front of abortion clinics, has said we will never defeat abortion through the legislature. While this bill passing the House is a wonderful victory, and I praise God for it, this is not where we will win the war. As has been pointed out, it won’t pass the Senate, and even if it did, our pro-abortion president, who strongly supports Planned Parenthood, will never sign it.

Msgr. Reilly says the battle is in the minds and hearts of people. That is what must be changed. And there is definitely progress there. A Rasmussen poll just released says: “Fifty-three percent (53%) of voters consider abortion morally wrong most of the time, while just 32% say it is morally acceptable most of the time. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.” This is very good news.

  8. disco says:

How come I never hear anything about a constitutional amendment banning abortion?

  9. Catherine says:

It seems that the pendulum is at long last swinging back, but this is no time to rest on our laurels. God certainly does His part, but He expects us to do our part also. This is a time for more intense prayer and fasting. We have hope when we remember the story of David and Goliath.

  10. wanda says:

To God be the glory. We shall see what happens in the senate. Catherine, you are right on target.
This tide is turning, but it will happen heart-to-heart, one person at a time. You and I have work to do, prayers to pray. If God is for us, who can be against?

  11. irishgirl says:

Good! But will it pass the Senate, and more importantly, will it be vetoed by Obama?
That’s the rub, as Shakespeare said.

  12. DT says:

If the bill passes the Senate and is vetoed by the POTUS (which is highly likely), it still faces an uncertain future. The Congress can override the veto, but requires a 2/3 majority in both the House and Senate. The House will need 284 votes to override the veto, i.e., more votes will be needed in favor of the measure.

As other readers have already posted, we need to keep up the prayers!
