Ahhh Veselka!
I try to get here at least once per visit.
Cold Borscht!
It’s too hot for anything else. GAH!
As I eat my crunchy and cold soup, I am processing last nights procession and wishing I had photos.
UPDATE
I may have a photo source.
I’m the meantime, supper…
Crispy fish in sweet sour!
On behalf of all of us who were praying you through that, we wish you had photos too! But your 3 word comment, “IT. WAS. BEAUTIFUL.” on the original post is consoling.
Some nice footage of Pope Francis’ own Corpus Christi procession ***yesterday*** by CNS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6_8uK4OZfM
and with a little of his message here at a RomeReports video entitled “Pope leads Corpus Christi procession, on foot” here:

Happy Queenship of Mary!
Did no one take photos that you could ask for?
That looks delicious! It’s actually very warm in the UK today as well, for once!
Photos are available here:

Veselka is wonderful! I grew up in a different part of the city but have eaten there on occasion as an adult and also when I was at the Worker on the Bowery and could collect a few pennies to go out. We did serious poverty at the Worker when Dorothy was alive.
I’ll be back in my homeland next week for a horrible high school reunion and I think it’s time for a visit!
David D. — thanks for the link! A set of great photos!
?, ????! ???? ????????? ?????? ?? ??, ?? ?????.;)
David D. , thanks for sharing the pics!
Borscht!
Looks WONDERFUL!
There is a place in Sunny Isles that has fantastic borscht!
Juliet’s.
Also wonderful beef stroganoff.
Strangest thing, last time I was there and had both I was unable to fall asleep until about 4 in the morning.
Can borscht or stronganoff have coffee or caffeine in them? I mean, I was seriously wired after eating there.
Nice place … I highly recommend it.
Oh my gosh that looks wonderful; I have a proclivity for hot food. I have taken the hot-wings Wild Wings challenge, and won. And there there is a place in Santa called “Dai Thai”. Normally Thai food goes from 1-5 in hotness; this place goes up to 100, and it’s delicious. So, I chose 50, and the owner’s son said I could have my picture taken; which I very respectfully declined.
But it tore me up! It’s weird, but my 41 year old body can’t take the food and boozing of my younger years. In fact, not to sound prudish, but my Dr. girlfriend and I just like some chai tea and a Jim Carrey movie!
OK, I went to Paris partly to partake in fois gras. But here is a more positive picture of fowl by Yeats, which is my favorite poem by him:
W.B. Yeats (1865–1939). The Wild Swans at Coole. 1919.
1. The Wild Swans at Coole
THE TREES are in their autumn beauty,
The woodland paths are dry,
Under the October twilight the water
Mirrors a still sky;
Upon the brimming water among the stones 5
Are nine and fifty swans.
The nineteenth Autumn has come upon me
Since I first made my count;
I saw, before I had well finished,
All suddenly mount 10
And scatter wheeling in great broken rings
Upon their clamorous wings.
I have looked upon those brilliant creatures,
And now my heart is sore.
All’s changed since I, hearing at twilight, 15
The first time on this shore,
The bell-beat of their wings above my head,
Trod with a lighter tread.
Unwearied still, lover by lover,
They paddle in the cold, 20
Companionable streams or climb the air;
Their hearts have not grown old;
Passion or conquest, wander where they will,
Attend upon them still.
But now they drift on the still water 25
Mysterious, beautiful;
Among what rushes will they build,
By what lake’s edge or pool
Delight men’s eyes, when I awake some day
To find they have flown away?
