Your Urgent Prayer Requests

Please use the sharing buttons!  Thanks!

Continued from HERE.

I get so many requests by email asking for prayers for personal petitions or for other people. Some times these requests are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

We are not in this life alone, on our own. We are connected through our humanity and our membership in Holy Church. We should support each other in works of mercy.

As long as my blog reaches so many readers in so many places, let’s give each other a hand.

If you have some prayer requests, feel free to post them below. Do you have to be registered here to have posting privileges.

Take a moment to pray for others about whom you read here.

To get things started, please pray for the repose of the soul of Rev. Mr. Harold Hughesdon, a dear friend.  He was a permanent deacon.  He died at 91.  Born in London, and a great gentleman, in his life he had been in the Westminster Choir School, an RAF pilot in WWII, a chemistry professor, a VP of 3M, and had built all the liturgical ceremonies of what became my home parish in St. Paul, MN, which so drew me, first, in curiosity to the Church and, then, in faith into the Church.  Harold played an important role in my conversion.

Requiescat in pace.

I am offering prayers for Reverend Mister Harold Hughesdon,
also for all Priests that have touched our lives, may they rest in peace and intercede for us on earth.

Please pray for our pastor who vacillates between enthusiasm for saying the TLM and lethargy of the same,
and for my husband that he can eventually not need a catheter.

  11. The Sicilian Woman says:

I’ll be leaving tomorrow, driving by myself on trip of approximately 2000 miles, round-trip, and am anxious about it, so any prayers for a safe journey would be greatly appreciated. I will include all those intentions here in my prayers this evening and on my stops at the church(es) I visit on my trip, including one that’s the site of pilgrimages.

  12. Girgadis says:

I will pray for all of the intentions posted here and the people who posted them. I ask your prayers for my sister and her husband. They’ve been married one year as of today and he was recently diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, which claimed the life of his mother and some of his relatives and threatens the lives of his siblings as well. “For better or for worse.”

I also ask prayers for a special intention related to work, which pales in comparison to what some people must endure, but I ask nonetheless.

Thank you and God bless everyone.

  13. I will be praying for the repose of Rev. Mr. Harold Hughesdon, that his soul may speedily find the Beatific Vision, and that he, who has led Father Z, and no doubt many other souls to righteousness, would shine as the stars.

Blood of Christ, consolation of the dying, save us.
Blood of Christ, peace and tenderness of hearts, save us.
Blood of Christ, pledge of eternal life, save us.
*Blood of Christ, freeing souls from purgatory, save us.*
Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and honor, save us.

Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world,
    spare us, O Lord!.
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world,
    graciously hear us, O Lord!.
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world,
    have mercy on us. .

    V. You have redeemed us, O Lord, in your Blood.
    R. And made us, for our God, a kingdom.

    Let us pray.

Almighty and Eternal God, you have appointed your only-begotten Son the Redeemer of the world, and willed to be appeased by His Blood. Grant we beg of You, that we may worthily adore this price of our salvation, and through its power be safeguarded from the evils of the present life, so that we may rejoice in its fruits forever in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

  14. Cath says:

That my husband will find gainful employment to provide for our seven children. For all the children I work with who have little if any parental support.

I will pray for all of you here and your intentions.

  15. Suburbanbanshee says:

    For gainful employment.

  16. mamajen says:

Mine is trivial compared to others, but we need to sell our house and it is causing me a lot of stress.

I will pray for all of the other intentions here.

  17. AnnAsher says:

My son lost his job today. He’s waiting on word from an interview he had a couple weeks ago. He has been in the employ of an uncaring and irresponsible woman. He was informed yesterday that she had planned to close the store at the end of the month … But due to another employee quiting she asked my son if he would run the store alone until the end of the month or she would close it today. Last night he agreed to work until end of month. Today, payday, he was not paid. It is the third time in a year and a half she has failed to pay on time … And lied. So he quit. Pray for my son to find his calling and for the former boss to find her way.

  18. JoyfulMom7 says:

I have prayed for all the intentions listed above. My prayer request – I have lost something quite important and really need to find it. Please pray that it turns up soon. Thank you.

  19. Sissy says:

I am praying for all the intentions noted here, as well as for the repose of the soul of Rev. Mr. Hughesdon. I thank God for men like him; may our Lord strengthen many more to His service. I ask prayers for the repose of the soul of my dear brother, Steven Paul, who died a year ago this month.

  20. xgenerationcatholic says:

For my brother Chris, whose wife of 8 years has apparently decided life would be more fulfilling without him.

  21. charo says:

I have prayed for the intentions of all above. Please pray for my special intention.

  22. New Sister says:

Please also pray for my little brother, father of four, that he will not be layed off as HP makes deep cuts across his divison. And for peace in our family.

  23. Liz says:

I will be praying for the souls of Rev. Mr. Hughesdon and the others listed here. Also for the many heartwrenching requests, I will certainly be praying. Wow so much suffering.

My special intention that I asked for before just got more stressful. Please pray that the impossible can happen. (Yes, St. Jude)

Thank you and God bless you all!

  24. HeatherPA says:

For my best friend who is a wonderful wife and mother and has terminal cancer.
That we sell our home, highly stressful, so our family can be under one roof and not geographically separated.

  25. Gulielmus says:

I am praying for all the above intentions.

I ask your prayers both for my 91-year-old mother who is suffering from a compression fracture in her spine, and who, I believe, is beginning the end of this life. And please pray for me, her sole caregiver, that I remain patient and strong for her, and that I be given the grace to forgive those relatives who have all but abandoned us as the situation became difficult.

  26. Everyone: please help! Pray.

  27. Mamma B says:

for my husband, who suffers from severe bipolar disorder

  28. Henrietta says:

I am praying for all of the above intentions

I ask your prayers that my husband and father of our baby boy is cured from lymphoma

  29. FloridaJoan says:

fervently praying for all the above intentions

  30. dahveed says:

I have, and will, happily pray for all of your intentions. That is always a pleasure.

Father, may I make a suggestion, with regard to the gentleman now deceased? Have you thought of adding his name top the rolls at Rorate Caeli’s (or another’s) Purgatorial Society? I suggest theirs because it is the one I know of, but I am sure more exist.

  31. AnAmericanMother says:

Prayers for the Rev. Mr. Hughesdon, and for everyone’s intentions – as my dear Methodist preacher grandfather-in-law always said, “Agreeing in prayer.”
Asking your prayers for my husband, who has leukemia and is hoping for a good blood test at the end of this month after 6 months of chemo. Also for a dear friend who is beginning a slow recovery from a dreadful accident that nearly cost her her life.

  32. oldCatholigirl says:

I like that phrase, “Agreeing in prayer”. I am. Also, I request prayers for appropriate jobs for four good friends who are out of work, for the accomplishment of a Catholic educational project with which I am involved, and for the return to the Church of all of my children.
Thank you, Father Z, for your priestly work, which has included the establishment of this earth-spanning electronic community of prayer. May God protect and bless all your endeavors.

  33. New Sister says:

Fr Z, I will be at the National Shrine today for Holy Mass; will pray and commend all these intentions to Our Lady.

  34. Lina says:

My prayer request is insignificant compared to so many of those listed above, but I ask for prayers anyway for direction and hope in my life at a very difficult time. Thank you.

  35. Lady Catcliffe says:

For a friend with health problems, Domine, exaudi nos.

  36. Servant of the Liturgy says:

Memorare said and intercession of Ven. Pius XII requested for all.

Fr. Z, this is one of the best things you do with this blog. Thank you.

  37. Suburbanbanshee says:

Don’t worry, Father Z! I’ve been praying for your intentions and everybody else’s, too!

  38. UncleBlobb says:

Please pray for my brother Michael who is having serious legal difficulties. And separately, please pray for me that I can see something worthwhile in this life, myself, and others.

  39. I hope people use this thread.

Please pray for LG, who tonight has suicidal feelings.

  40. Sissy says:

Praying right now for LG. I will continue to lift him/her up for healing and comfort.

  41. AnAmericanMother says:

Praying for LG w/ my Rosary tonight.
One of my parents’ oldest friends committed suicide a couple of weeks ago, for no reason that anyone can discern, leaving his family bewildered and completely devastated. Pray for them and for the repose of his soul, please.

  42. my kidz mom says:

Prayers for all of you :)

Please pray for my nieces and nephews who have left the Faith and have embraced darkness – indifference, atheism, anti-Catholicism, and even satanism…please pray for their return Home.

  43. NoTambourines says:

Praying for all of the intentions expressed here. If I could add a few of my own:

For an ongoing health issue. I see the doctor again this week.
For the return of the rest of my family to Mass.
For the conversion of several friends and acquaintances.

For the release of Asia Bibi, a Christian mother imprisoned in Pakistan.
For the conversion of all who persecute the Church.

And a prayer of thanksgiving for all that is going right in my life right now, much better than this time last year. Please thank God with me so I can thank Him over and over!

  44. Kathleen10 says:

Another topic about which I know nothing.

I actually like to listen to old recordings, of almost anything. I find the phonograph scratches and sound quality to be almost ethereal and other-worldly. Fascinating.
I apparently wouldn’t know great chant from lousy chant, because I am struggling to comprehend what most of you find so disagreeable about the 1904 recordings.
It’s also clear to me that I too prefer lousy but earnest chant, in comparison to contemporary church music of any quality I’ve heard. I wonder at the comment “he who sings well prays twice” in that, not wishing to be disagreeable, it seems that God must love the sour melody from a prayerful person, as much as any great aria. But when it is public singing, ah, that is a different thing altogether.

  45. Captain Peabody says:

A thanksgiving: a few weeks ago, I reported that the unborn child of a friend had been diagnosed with Trisometry-14 (a genetic defect that causes stillbirths and infant deaths), and asked for prayers. However, now the friend in question just received word that apparently the earlier diagnosis was mistaken, and that her child is healthy after all! I cannot help but see this as an answer to prayer, and I thank everyone who prayed on the matter. A few prayers for the continuing health of mother and child would be appreciated as well. Thanks be to God!

Also, if I may add a prayer for myself, I’ve been struggling greatly of late with persistent, deeply ingrained, and habitual temptations towards impurity, as well with consequent temptations towards despair; and I’ve also been suffering a lot of late from some kind of sleep disorder, and am waiting now on word of a hopeful diagnosis and treatment. Prayers for either of these intentions would be greatly appreciated, and I will be sure to pray for your intentions as well. God bless!

  46. Pray for young Matteo! He is suffering with Stevens-Johnson syndrome (which causes essentially a 2nd degree burn by the immune system that extends beyond the skin to internal mucosae), that has deteriorated into full toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN – an autoimmune condition that attacks a person’s skin, mucous membranes and, occasionally, other organ systems).

  47. Sissy says:

Prayers for Matteo and all listed above! I also ask prayers for the conversion of my brother. On a non-urgent, more trivial matter, may I ask prayers that our move back to the United States will go smoothly. Thanks to all, and be assured of my continued prayers for the intentions of all those here.

  48. yatzer says:

For a friend who emailed me today that she is so devastated emotionally and financially by a 5 year divorce process that she no longer believes in a loving God and has put away all Bibles and crosses. She has also canceled her Facebook page and says she is going “underground” no longer answering her phone or email. I fear for her safety.

  49. keithp says:

I will add all here to my prayer intentions tonight. Most recently, God has been very good to me and bestowed many graces and consolations on to me and my family. I am extraordinarily blessed. I am grateful for the opportunity to pray for you all.

Yatzer — I am struck by your post. I will certainly pray for your friend. Now is the time she should keep her eyes only on Christ. Remember how once St Peter took his eyes from Jesus he instantly began to sink in to the sea. The blessed Mother at the foot of the cross kept her eyes on her Son. It is so terribly easy for us to rely on ourselves and lose hope. Please, if the opportunity arises, encourage her to go before the holy sacrament and pour out her pain and problems to the Good Shepherd.

  50. Girgadis says:

Just a quick note to say that I continue to remember Father’s intentions and everyone else who has posted here by offering my daily Holy Communion and prayers for you. I thank you for doing the same for me. God Bless you.

  51. carolg says:

Please pray for the repose of my sisters soul. 6-30-2012
for my bil return to health from lung ca, receiving chemo.
for best friend health -results of CT scan this week.
My prayers for all requests as always.

  52. akp1 says:

Praying – and I need them too for the grace to bear what the Lord has asked of me.

  53. Sissy says:

Carolg: My condolences for the loss of your sister. On July 16, it will be one year since I lost my brother. It’s very hard to lose a sibling…..they are the only people in the world who really know what it was like to grow up as a kid in your particular home. There are so many memories you can’t talk over with anyone else. May the Lord comfort you, and may you feel the peace of His great mercy. My prayers for your other concerns and those of all posters above.

  54. mysticalrose says:

Please pray for my babysitter’s daughter who has attempted suicide this week and threaten to make another attempt. Please pray also for another woman who is contemplating suicide.
