“The essence of Christian life is the Kingdom of God . . . ”
True, but I sometimes wonder if the idea of a Kingdom, and Kingship in general, is lost on moderns (or worse than lost – anathema), particularly Americans whose founding political principle is the repudiation of monarchy.
How many moderns see Kingship as mere tyranny? The divine right of a monarch to rule gets no traction at all as an organizing political principle in the modern world.
What that means for conversions . . . I don’t know. I’m just spitballing.
