A 5 minute daily podcast to help you in your Lenten discipline.
The Roman Station is the Cathedral of Rome the Archbasilica of the Holy Savior and St. John the Evangelist and St. John the Baptist in the Lateran.
RESOLUTIONS To progress in our prayer life: hold ourselves in the presence of God by carefully keeping silence of eyes and ears, forgetting ourselves; be more faithful to morning and evening prayer; attend Mass during the week or make a spiritual communion;5 take greater care with our thanksgiving; say the rosary; make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament or spend a few minutes meditating before or after Mass; attend Vespers.
Many thanks, Father Z.
Dear Fr. Z.
You are, indeed, very prescient !!!
My outstanding Parish Priest expounded the following suggestions for our Lenten efforts during his excellent Sermon at Mass, today:
Try to Assist at an additional Mass during the Week;
Try to arrive a little earlier each time for your Mass and use the increased time for your increased Prayer life. AND, stay a little longer after Mass, as well.
Think more of others, as opposed to yourself;
Thank God for his Blessings on us and ask His forgiveness for our sins.
Don’t forget your Thanksgiving Prayers before and after your meals.
Perhaps consider a little less Television during Lent and a little more Family Prayer Life, including The Rosary;
Consider how you might be able to contribute something, no matter how small, to a Charitable concern;
Go to Confession.
Thank you Fr Z.
Was fortunate to visit St John Lateran last Fall. Massive.
Near the front doors, attached to the foundation, there is a third round spiked piece of black iron that sits horizontal. Below it was an iron loop attached to the ground. Does anyone know the purpose of these pieces ?
