Benedict XIV was a great favorite of the late Fr. John Hunwicke, may he rest in peace.
On 20 August 1981: The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien was first published. Containing 354 letters (now 508) written over 59 years, the book contains an invaluable insight into Tolkien’s life and works, providing us with first-hand evidence of Tolkien’s actual thoughts and opinions. pic.twitter.com/ODGpmDYPyh

Auron MacIntyre needs to educate himself. He should consider the fact that *all* Christians prior to 1000 AD were Catholic, and *all* Christians prior to the 1500s AD were Catholic or Orthodox.
@fatherz can we commission a fascia for His Holiness with his coat of arms? I’d be happy to contribute.

@Chiara:
Oriental Orthodoxy split off after Chalcedon (600 years or so prior to the Great Schism), and the status of the St. Thomas Christians seems to be a bit…complicated…for a while. Before that, the Church of the East split off a few decades prior (likely blame here goes to this group being in Persia, and so there was pressure not to do what the Roman Church was doing on some matters…gee, does that sound familiar?), and the Chaldean Catholic Church is a group from the earlier split that reconciled. So at most you’ve got the “Great Church” era of a century and a bit (if you measure from Nicaea).
(This isn’t to speak either way on Mr. MacIntyre. I’m just pointing out that history has been quite complicated on this front.)
Every US military Chaplain who received the Medal Honor since the Civil War was a Catholic Priest:
Fr. Joseph O’Callahan
Venerable Fr. Emil Kapaun
Fr. Vincent Capodanno
Fr. Charles Litkey
Fr. Charles Watters
Every. Single. One…
Oh wow…I clicked on that B14 swag link (dated from 2017) and it started by saying how great the 14 popes were. (Another great theory disproved). There’s even a commentor praying for a future Leo XIV. Click and read for yourself, if I’m not making sense. (And buy a T-shirt). Sorry if this was already posted somewhere.
exNOAA: You are right! The very first comment.
