We’re saved!
This can only be described as … wait for it … COMEDY GOLD!!! ? #morons https://t.co/CllVYCpimr

At LAST we learn what “walking together” involves. It is “conversation in the Spirit!” There’s an app for it, too!

NB: UISG is the International Union of Superiors General, a global organization for superiors general of Catholic women religious. These are in general aligned more with the “nuns on a (short) bus” rather than the nuns of Gower Abbey, if you get my drift.

Vacuous.
For some, these procedures are a new sacrament that confers the grace of the Holy Spirit ex opere operato.
I have so many thoughts.
1. The title in the graphic is missing a space between the words “conversation” and “in”. Also there are unnecessary spaces elsewhere between words.
2. What do stones (pebbles? pieces of coal?) have to do with conversing?
3. There is no consistency in the titles in blue. All caps. Followed by sentence case. Followed by a mixture of the two.
4. Why are all of the nuns on the short bus wearing those ugly face masks? Are they COVID-ing together? Is the virus robbing them of brain cells?
“ChatGPT… show me what trying too hard looks like.”
I am not sure, but their “process” seems very similar to a description I once heard of Quaker meetings. Doesn’t strike me as very Catholic. I guess that makes me one of those “rigid” people attached to Tradition.
I think as a Church we need to stop listening so much and start preaching.
Reading that poster gave me heresy.
Okay, after my previous comment I decided to actually find the “document” that was prepared (in 12 languages).
Reading it made me stupider. So I have decided to share the link to the document here, because you should all experience synodality.
I have some questions for the synod people.
1. What is “the question”? (It’s not clear)
2. What if I don’t bring a cell phone to the meeting?
3. How do I get rid of the heresy?

Enjoy.

Individually, those stones constitute a tripping hazard. But together, constructed into a shoddy arch, they constitute a crushing hazard.
How apt.
I think the sharing will be so subjective that it will be just as likely to be influenced by whatever they were served for lunch moments before speaking.
@ Dan:
Agreed.
Did Our Lord say in Matthew 28:19 “Go and listen” or “Go and teach”?
Too new age-y for me
(Typical program to make everyone feel relevant to a process that is garbage)
Wait, I’ve had another think… the question is not clear, but the answer is definitely women bishops. If we can’t get bishops, then we’ll go for deacons (let’s do this in stages).
Many years ago, on a diocesan youth retreat, a very creepy group discussion facitator (yes, it was that sort of ‘retreat’) got everyone in the group circle to say what animal the person on their left reminded them of. You can imagine some of the (spiritually useless) silliness that followed, but when it came to the last person sitting to the right of the facilitator, they paused a while then looked up and said “a snake in the grass!”. Well, they did ask …
No doubt their discernment will lead to recommendations for very high minimum wages, rent controls, very high taxes on investment returns.
Ouch, dumber indeed Ben. That was painful. This is a Marxist style struggle session not a thing a church founded by Christ himself should be engaged in.
Child of the 1970s here…my thought: So, we’re doing this stupid stuff again? (rephrased for family friendliness) The “Spirit of Vatican II” needs to die. It didn’t work, it only brought about Nuclear Faith Winter not the promised “Springtime”. I lost 4 out 6 siblings to that madness. No. not going back.
How about we just be Catholic. Back to the basics, Baltimore Catechism, devotions, Eucharistic processions, the 4 last things, Gregorian Chant, incense, peaceful and beautiful art and architecture, the Mass of the Ages(tm). Things that raise our hearts and minds to our Lord, not this stuff that points us to narcissism and inaction.
We are engaged in a Spiritual war, We need to take the field and go forth proclaiming the faith. We need to be done with this kind of wheel spinning. It is silliness we do not have the time for. The battle is upon us. St Michael, defend us in Battle!
Loquitur: …“a snake in the grass!”…
—> GHP frantically looking for the missing “Like” button and “Thumbs Up” emoji…… to no avail.
What do Oreo Cookies have to do with synodality?
Honestly, if they did server Oreos, we could see participation go up dramatically from the .o01 percent that actually had a role.
I think the stupidest part is the underlying assumption that the Holy Spirit is guiding the participants’ emotions. Couldn’t possibly be the case that their own bad habits are guiding their emotions. Or what they ate for breakfast. No, no, it’s all the Holy Spirit, and you can tell because everyone feels represented by the conclusion, something which could never result from groupthink and a focus on emotion to the exclusion of reason.
Wonder how they would handle a contrarian…
I’m racking my brain trying to remember where I saw an article a couple of years ago about the process that was used on religious, both men and women, post-Vatican II to “reform” the religious orders, and the process used resembles this type of weird group “sharing” of “reflections” in what I think they called an “encounter group.” It successfully destroyed most religious orders who utilized this kind of process by causing a mass exodus of priests and nuns, and because of the changes to the very nature of religious life that came out of this “process,” a dearth of vocations which has never been reversed. I guess they figure it’s time to do this to the laity and any clergy who didn’t undergo this psychotic treatment in the 1970’s and 1980’s, because, you know, it produced such great results when it was used on religious orders.
I note (thanks to @Ben) from the published document, that no-one is allowed to comment on others’ “sharings”. So one can say what one likes! and no-one can argue.
I think I could have some fun with this! Trouble is one just cannot image men doing it, even the most modern and liberal.

Whoever said this reminded them of Marxism… don’t say that. Marxists are actually intelligent and tend to have rigorously thought out positions, even if I very strongly disagree with them. Marxists would eat these people for breakfast.
On the actual topic — the funny thing is that within the Catholic tradition historically there’s been a strong left-leaning political tendency. Especially in the English speaking world. The appeal of right-leaning Catholicism in anglophones is a 1990s and later thing. But crap like this is why young religious people aren’t interested in engaging with their intellectual heritage as English-speaking Catholics. All the left-leaning religious leaders are kooks who speak in riddles and new speak.
@fac you’re thinking of psychologist Carl Rogers and William Coulsen. Coulsen eventually regretted his participation.
Over the years I’ve encountered organizations who used Rogers’ model. I saw it in La Leche League International an organization started by Catholic moms to support breastfeeding mothers. What happened to that group? They now support “chestfeeding” by anyone –man or woman.
Oh, thank you @maternalView. Yes, that’s it. I did a search of my internet history and found the article. It was published on Patheos web site entitled “William Coulson and the LCWR: “We Overcame Their Traditions and Their Faith” by Kathy Schiffer.
One quote: “Speaking later with great regret, Coulson explained how they had influenced the Sisters to look not to the Commandments, to the Church, or to God, but to look instead within themselves to find their own personal truth. Rogers, Coulson and their team had a three-year grant; but they suspended the project after only two years, because they could see what a negative effect it had had.”

Here’s a second article about the same topic: “We overcame their traditions, we overcame their faith.” on Jesuit Identity wordpress site:
