Daily Rome Shot 1208 – Succisa virescit

Octave of Christmas, let’s look back to the 1st Mass of Christmas! Right click for larger.

And then there’s this jackass.

One notes with interest that what he attacks is traditional rather than post-Conciliar.   I wonder if he was perhaps a dicasterial consultant for the penning of Taurina cacata.

Happier… succisa virescit!

Unhappier… and not churchy

  1. White to move and mate in 2. How long did it take?

[NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.]

Lot’s of controversy in NYC at the World Rapid and Blitz. Magnus Carlsen was confronted about the dress code… he wore jeans… he refused to change… he quit. It seems to me that there were other players also violating the dress code. Why FIDE reps decided to dig their heels in with Magnus is hard to say. On the other hand, Magnus, grow up… unless you wanted the fight for your own reasons?

    Succisus virescit?

    In any event and 18 year old Russian Volodar Murzin emerged on top with and undefeated 10/13.  2nd Grischuk, 3rd Nepo, 4th Dominguez-Perez, 5th Arjun… 7th Puer… 15th Fabi… 17th Pragg… 28th Nodirbek … 45th Hikaru… 61st Wesley… 157th Magnus Carlsen

    Beautiful images, Fr. Z.
I was Baptist as a child, because that’s where my parents took me. I became a Catholic as an adult, because I grew up, saw Truth, and wanted it. I always felt a kinship with any Christian believer, if you love Jesus Christ, I’m in. That being said, the arrogance of so many protestants has become insufferable. Those who claim to have a lock on things are often the biggest fools you could find. Time wasters.
I heard what Gavin Ashendon said and agree with every word. King Charles is a bad man and a traitorous sovereign. He denounced his title as Defender of the Faith, did he not? He’s made himself clear, and his horrifying portrait in red seems very appropriate now. Were I a British subject and a Christian I would stop caring about the royals, and wouldn’t want to continue to pay for them. It now becomes important whether or not William is an actual Christian. It’s hard to imagine any of these self-serving royals caring much about God, their subjects, or the christian faith, given the state of Great Britain, which is in terrible trouble on so many levels. King Charles has thrown in with the other side.

It only took a minute or so. Moving the Q was the only move to result in check. But the second move was a little tricky. Black B cannot capture N because of White R.

No. That didn’t work. I can’t edit that.

Back to the Jeans comment. I think that some men and women have lost their sense of style, fashion, propriety..
Up here in cold New England, we have men wearing winter hats and coats with SHORTS??? A few years back a fellow Senior was coming to TLM in shorts. I asked him if he had any BigBoy pants? He didn’t take it well.

  6. PostCatholic says:

That is indeed some next-level jackassery. No need to be cruel or offensive.

LOL! In some parts of the country, there is more than a bit of a “tough guy” attitude about shorts, i.e. wearing them until temps are below -10F. But the guys I know who do that should be equally capable of knowing how to be a tough guy in terms of dressing for mass – which is admitting that the REAL tough guy is the one who died on a cross for my sins, and I can darn well dress accordingly. “When I became a man, I put away the things of a child…”
