My good friend (and a good chess player) Fr. Jason Charron has issued a video response to Michael Lofton.
These days I pay zero attention to Michael Lofton. I’ve seen a few clips and minutes here and there, and those some time ago. There are better things to do with my time. Hence, I didn’t see what Lofton did to draw out Fr. Charron’s commentary. That said, in the past I have probably seen enough of Lofton to understand that Fr. Charron has done everyone a good service, including Mr. Lofton.
Very good!
Appreciate your posting this Fr. Z. I would call the video ‘brutal charity’. Nice to see Father toss Ed Feser into the mix of those he defends in this video. Feser has taken a great deal of heat over his comments prior to presidential election in the US; his blog posts on hell and the impossibility of universal salvation are outstanding.
The web is full of Lofton types. Surfing ‘Catholic’ internet requires a great deal of picking through trash to find the jewels. It can be a dangerous place for souls.
Lofton is happily captured in the Catholic media trap in the same way our news reporters are captured by the government and our news stations are captured by pharmakeia (in the Revelation 18:23 way)…
You can’t write bad about the organization that your funds are derived from.
Novus Ordo money stream is long and churning, its corruption is well known.
– Peter’s Pence
– Catholic Charities USA
– The ATM’s at the Vatican a month before Benedicts “resignation”.
– Roberto Calvi (God’s banker)
– The disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi
– Rocketman Moving
– London Appartment Buildings
– Fleecing of Nuns..
The story goes on.
Many “Catholics” have attached themselves to $$ more than God. Lofton currently is one of them – pray for him.
I am not familiar with Mr. Lofton, but two Scripture passages came to mind while listening to the video: in Psalms that tell us to “put not your trust in princes”, and in Matthew, where Our Lord tells us “by their fruits you shall know them”.
