Pretty crazy. 150 minutes of penalties in the 3rd period.
In chessy news… HERE

The 16-player Knockout for entry in the Paris Freestyle match (aka Fischer Random) takes place on Thursday-Friday, March 13-14. The top-four join 12 invited players in the Knockout. Vincent Keymer was the surprise $200,000 winner of the Weissenhaus Freestyle Chess Grand Slam, the first of five Grand Slams on the Tour. The action now switches to Paris, France 7-14 April (when I will be pretty busy… rats).
Not only in Boston, unfortunately. Come to Montreal sometime for lots more of the same.
Father, I’m glad you’ve been including X items so we can see that there are Catholic related posts and comments there. It’s good to see some loyal priests there. Using X is the one exception I’ve allowed myself with social media. :)

Better that Holy Trinity should have been burned to the ground than turned to this most profane* of uses! (and the end result is ugly to boot!) This was the location of Boston’s “indult” Mass from 1990-2007 but its location was its undoing: a very valuable piece of real estate in a trendy neighborhood with very low numbers of either Catholics or families. Nonetheless the parish was self-sufficient but the Archdiocese wanted that money (seems they had some unbudgeted expenses to deal with!) They finally moved the TLM elsewhere in early 2007 in order to tank attendance, only to have a “stable group” of parishioners request a weekly “Extraordinary Form” Mass under the provisions of Summorum Pontificum! A temporary victory but eventually the “low attendance” ploy worked and the church closed in ’08 or ’09 despite numerous appeals to Rome.
*Given the demographic of the neighborhood “sins which cry out to Heaven for vengeance” are likely committed daily within this once-holy space!
hoping your issue with Amazon has resolved. just ordered a few necessary items to keep my pants from falling down in public :-)
I once read where they came during the night and striped the inside so nobody would stop them. They deserve what they will face in the afterlife.

Archlaic,
I have no idea what the good Dominican priest’s exact point was, since he didn’t elaborate beyond the emoji and Twitter/X makes comments unreadable to outside readers.
I will say, however, that 15-20 years ago there was nothing remotely trendy about the area bounded by E Berkeley, Tremont, the Turnpike, and Albany.
Also, three other Catholic churches within less than 1/2 mile walk of the front door meant the neighborhood wasn’t being left a church desert.
As to the real estate market and current prices? Yes, insane.
Another Hit Job by the former Cardinal of Boston. Beautiful Church. Thriving Traditional Community, relegated to the Lower Church.
Good news, All the beautiful statues were acquired by local Church that does NO and TLM.
A horde of barbarians living in the remains of Roman built structures, not understanding their original purpose or principles of design?
Where have I read this before…
