Daily Rome Shot 1270 – slipper

Today’s Roman Station, Santa Maria in Domnica.

Little Pope Pascal venerates the Blessed Virgin’s slipper. He was alive when this mosaic was made, so he gets a square halo.

Look! Up in the sky!

    Black to move.  Mate… soon!

The American Cup is on in St. Louis. There is an open section and a women’s section. Yesterday all for open games ended in draws. My guy Wesley So is in the mix. He has been runner-up for two years. Go, Wesley! Yesterday he drew against Leinier Dominguez. Three of four in the women’s section were decisive. Winning were Irina Krush, Carissa Yip, and young Alice Lee from my native place. They play today as well.

Yesterday I had a really bad day. I played like a moron. It was frustrating. I was about to leave early, but there was a kid without anyone to play with so I stayed. He wasn’t much competition so I gave him some tips. He’ll do well with more experience.
