The sun rises in a little while as I write, at 5:33.
It will set at 20:46 over Rome, far behind me as I wing across the Atlantic.
I won’t hear the Ave Maria Bell in the Curia (and noone else will) at 21:00. It is on my app, however! The Ave Maria Clock App!
Because the migration of the blog screwed up a bunch of things, I can no longer integrate photos into posts that are underway. So, I am crippled as to what I can do to update this along the way.
Here are some shots I was sent from yesterday’s procession.
I’ll work on a solution.
And you can work on this solution.

taking out the garbage before locking up

all these years I’ve not been in this one

security was really fast so I had a long wait in the general area – better than the dreadful lounge. Once was too many times.
I got bumped. Nice.

Se vedemo, Roma.

Father, as you head back to the U.S. — I won’t say “home” because listening to you lately, somehow I think Rome is now your home, and I wish you could find a way to just move there — I just wanted to say that, in your case, the priest cancelers running the Church these days have failed. You have a parish: it is us, your readers here. You bring the Gospel home over and over again to more people than you know. Your erudite unlocking of the riches in the Collects, the Propers, and the rest of the Mass, and your writing at One Peter Five, enrich our understanding and deepen our faith. In all that, you show yourself to be one of the great preachers of our day. I pray that the Lord will make it possible for you to be where you can be most at home and do the most good. Gratefully, David
[Thank you sincerely for that.]
Love that third photo. Beautiful procession! Safe travels to you!

I am in wholehearted agreement with David. I would add only one additional comment: Your efforts of sharing and explaining the Mass, the liturgy overall, the history of the Church, etc. have allowed someone like me to recognize beauty, to seek out a more reverent Mass, and to expect better than what my generation inherited after Vatican II. I also more fully appreciate my young parish priest’s efforts to bring beauty into our church and reverence to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Thank you!
