15 September: Seven Sorrows of Mary – The “Our Lady of Sorrows Project”

Today, the day after the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, is the Feast of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  There is an analogous commemoration on Friday after 1st Passion Sunday.

Some time ago, I wrote a series of reflections on the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin.  I invite you to have a look.

Thank you for dealing with the piercing of the Heart of Jesus. Most of the time, when people talk about the Sorrows of Our Lady, they mention the Deposition only, and totally ignore the Piercing of His heart, which is of such tremendous theological importance.

I agree with the others: this series needs to be published! Add some artistic images too, if you can. Good contemporary Catholic artists are perhaps less inclined to ‘clean up’ the Passion from blood…
