Prayer to St. Joseph for a Difficult Problem

Prayer to Saint Joseph for a Difficult Problem

O Glorious St. Joseph, thou who hast power to render possible even things which are considered impossible, come to our aid in our present trouble and distress.

Take this important and difficult affair under thy particular protection, that it may end happily. (MENTION YOUR REQUEST)

O dear St. Joseph, all our confidence is in thee. Let it not be said that we would invoke thee in vain; and since thou art so powerful with Jesus and Mary, show that thy goodness equals thy power.  Amen.

St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart, pray for us.

My experience has been that, when praying to St. Joseph, it is best to be specific.

I’m praying for you, Father Z.

It was perfect to see this today, Father, and I’m really counting on St. Joseph (as I do every day). I travel across country tomorrow and will have a difficult situation with my mother, who should not be living alone. I’m the only one left to help her and we’re a whole country apart. There is an important appointment that she must cooperate about, not to mention that I’d love to get her to move.

May wonderful St. Joseph help you too, Father!

Perfect timing, Father. The Prayer for a Difficult Problem you posted is a gem.
Thank you. Getting to know St Joseph better this year has been a true Godsend for me.

Sandy, my heart and prayers go out to you.

Yes. “Go to Joseph”. Great advice.

During a particularly challenging time for my younger son’s catechism, I made a novena to St. Joseph. St Joseph is especially helpful for fatherhood, family and work issues. Especially when they all seem to run together…. :)

  5. TNCath says:

Thanks for the posting about St. Joseph. I need it at this particularly troubled time in my life.

  6. Jim says:

Thank you Father. I found this just when I needed it the most – today, perhaps the most difficult day in my life thus.

St. Joseph, please pray for me. Closing was supposed to take place on my house but at the final walk through water and water damage were found from the last big storm in the area. Closing is now postponed and the buyers might walk away. I have been on the phone all day with the realtor and contractors. I am doing all of this 2500 miles away.

It seems that this is the right time for many to pray to St. Joseph, as it is for me. I am facing some difficult choices related to study, work and ultimately my providing for a future family. St. Joseph, my baptismal saint, has been a great help in the past, and I pray he will continue to do so.

  9. Supertradmum says:

Dear Fr. Z, prayers for you, and I have come back to this post several times and said the prayer for the SSPX and other intentions.

  10. nykash says:

Thanks, Father – perfect timing for me as well. I am facing some very difficult issues with both employment and family (health issues with my wife).

  11. Johnno says:

How timely, I need this prayer at the moment to help me to work on a particular project, and with concern to growing up more to be a proper man and to love a woman honorably. St. Joseph is a great model for all these things!

I am hapy I grew up in a home where my mother has always had great devotion to St. Joseph. I have finally turned to him in recent years.

I do agree about being “specific”. Don’t think, “well, in heaven they know the details”. They like it when you can elaborate ;)

  13. Tina in Ashburn says:

Praying for you Father Z..thanks for posting this prayer. I love St Joseph, the silent obedient saint. He has helped me throughout my life. My son is named after St Joseph.

Is anyone familiar with one of the stories of Teresa of Calcutta’s nuns and St Joseph? It goes roughly like this:
Whenever this convent needed anything, a sister would place a petition under St Joseph’s statue. Needing a horse, a sister drew and placed a picture of a horse under his statue. Very soon, a horse appeared at the door of the convent. They happily took the horse in. Eventually, the irate owner of the horse showed up and angrily requested his horse back. The sisters sadly gave the horse back to the owner. The horse returned, waiting at the door again. The owner got the horse back again. After a few more repeats of this scenario, the horse owner relented and gave the horse up saying he figured that God must want them to have this horse. Fine. Take it.

    Yup. Go to Joseph. :-)

Yes, be specific! 11/29/99 I told him I was tired & needed a vacation. When I got to work, I slipped & fell, was taken by ambulance to St Joseph’s Hospital. Ended up having two surgeries & being off work over a year!

  15. NoTambourines says:

Wow. Thank you so much for posting this prayer, Fr. Z. St. Joseph is already working wonders, and yes, it’s well worth being specific!

One prayer intention was to be able to sleep last night while I was concerned about the other intention I’m praying for. Slept like a log, and I’ve been battling insomnia off and on for over a year.

And it looks like the other intention just got answered in a big way. Thanks be to God!!!

  16. Paul M says:

Thank you for posting this, Father. I am going through the most difficult time of my life and the most difficult set of problems I can imagine. Being specific won’t be a problem….
