Right click for larger.   A better shot of the vestments for the Immaculate Conception at The Parish™ in Rome.  Spiffy.

  1. White to move and mate in 2.

[NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.]

In OTB yesterday, I lost a K v K and h-file pawn endgame heartbreaker.  Gotta work on that.  I blew a stalemate.  However, I had fought back from a bad position.

  2. Prince of Wales holding a Magnificat? May be hope yet…though I don’t think they really want Harry back (yet)…the wounds of his words are probably still too raw.

“Magnificat” is an excellent resource for anyone – Catholics and non-Catholics – who have an interest in our Faith. I have had a subscription for years and love it. I am glad to see Prince William has a copy. Obviously, someone in his entourage made sure to prepare him well. He will never convert, but it is good to know he is going to the trouble to get a grasp of what we believe.

I wouldn’t get excited about the Magnificat. Prince William has no interest at all in religion according to those who know him. The photo has been photoshopped

Those vestments in the above photo for the Immaculate Conception are amazingly gorgeous, not to mention elegant. I wish the clergy at Notre Dame de Paris cathedral would take note, rather than using them hideous vestments they used during the re-opening Mass, which quite frankly made them look like literal clowns.

  10. Boniface says:

I had noticed in footage I saw of the Notre Dame de Paris mass attendees that all of the English-speaking dignitaries seemed to be carrying copies of Magnificat (a very fine publication indeed). Somebody involved in planning the event had obviously ordered them so their English-speaking guests could follow along with the mass.
