ROME 25/10 – Day 15: glimpses

Rome brightened with the rising sun at 17:17.

The light dissipated after sunset at 18:35.

The non-ringing of the Ave Maria Bell was at 18:45.

It is the Feast of Carlo Acutis. In celebration of such, an arsonist – perhaps a practitioner of the “religion of peace” torched the monastery in France where he received his 1st Holy Communion. Burned to the ground, with the exception of a statue of Our Lady. The nuns in the convent got out with their lives.

The crowds in Rome are dense.

Please remember me when shopping online and use my affiliate links.  US HERE – UK HERE  WHY?  This helps to pay for health insurance (massively hiked for this new year of surprises), utilities, groceries, etc..  At no extra cost, you provide help for which I am grateful.

In chessy news… the US Championship is going on in St. Louis.  My guy Wesley So is up again the unlikeable Hans Niemann.  There is no one I would like to see Wesley defeat more than Niemann (maybe more than Puer).  Anyway, they are in new digs and they haven’t considered all the issues of LIGHT through the skylights!   It was strong enough that the arbiter got an umbrella (lit. little shadow) to get the direct sunlight out of Wesley’s eyes.

Players were amused.  A commentator joked that Niemann could complain to the arbiter for unfair help!

As it turns out Wesley and Niemann drew.  That means that in over 10 ten years, Wesley has not lost in the 1st Round.

    As for the Dublin Thugs-
That’s why God created extra large canisters of Bear Spray.
I was searching for a self defense device for my daughter. She didn’t seem interested in the needed training for a firearm.
So we went to non-lethal launcher ( looks like a pistol ). It fires pepper spray and tear gas balls at around 400 fps.

Once upon a time, before the pandemic, I had a Twitter account. I was fairly active. 2FA was enabled.

I decided to reduce my social-media footprint and I deactivated my Twitter account. Or so I thought. (You can never truly delete any social media account or content; all the operations they offer us are ruses.)

It turned out that my account was still visible, still public, frozen in time, and completely inaccessible to me for maintenance of any kind.

I have, in months past, appealed several times to X to either regain control of that account, or open a fresh, new one. My efforts have gone nowhere. The authentication system spurns me at every turn through some glitch. The CSRs claim I’m not appealing correctly. It seems like a lost cause.

My account was in perfectly good standing and I’d never caused any trouble on that platform. It’s absurd, not only that my deactivation and deletion failed, but apparently I can never enjoy access to Musk’s platform ever again. So mostly I hang out with (((Zuck))) and friends, these days.
