Your Sunday Sermon Notes – 18th after Pentecost (NO: 27th Ordinary) 2020

    OF Mass at the Cathedral in Denver. reservations are no longer required. up to 175 people allowed at each Mass. those rules just changed on Friday. previous limit was 80 and it seemed like we were about 80-90 present, but my guesstimate may be bad as i sat in the frontmost pew. only certain pews are open and seating is assigned by the usher who checks off the arrivals on a chart.

    started with an elucidation of the parable of the wicked tenants. the pointed questions: how do we give the master of the vineyard what is due to Him? how do we withhold what is due to Him?

    then a discussion of the ballot initiative to prohibit abortions after 22 weeks of gestation. about 300 of those take place each year in Colorado. while an end to all abortions is to be diligently pursued, incremental progress is still desirable.

    At the Franciscan Friary in Kennebunkport ME being the feast of St. Francis of Assisi they celebrated the solemnity of their patron rather than the usual mass for that Sunday. The homily was on the life of St. Francis and how we received the stigmata as a sharing in the suffering if Christ. At the end of mass we were blessed using a relic of St. Francis I believe. Mass limited to 50 people as all masses are in our diocese, no reservation required at this chapel.
