ROME 26/10– Day 02: A rocky beginning continues

In Rome the sun, but not I, rose at 07:06 and it set at 18:52.

It is a 1st Friday.  It is the Feast of the Guardian Angels, how I love them and thank God for mine (plural).

The Ave Maria in the Roman Curia would be at 19:00 if it were rung.  It was rung at The Parish™ tonight 30 minutes after sundown.  I was shooting photos with the World’s Best Sacristan of a side chapel.  Such a happy sound.

I’ve not been well.  Today there was progress, however. I am waiting for some meds to kick in.  But I dragged myself out of bed and went to The Parish™ to say Holy Mass.  On the way I spotted that, in my neighboring street, the nasone has been repaired and is flowing again (much as my nose flows).  You see also a rione sign and an 18th c. monnezzaro warning which will figure in my upcoming novel.

Off to church.  This little piazza really got an upgrade.  It is very pleasant and people are enjoying it!

Underneath my old window and next to the English College and coming to where St. Filipo Neri started his Oratory.

Our tailor came to fit a new cassock for a priest.  Note the back.  Needs adjusting.

How I do love this place.

Outside the “organic” grocer I sometimes go to for certain things.  They had some meat on sale which I bought…. and then remembered on the way home that it was Friday.  Change of plan.

Getting back into it.   I hope tomorrow will be better.

Thanks to a few more Roman Donors!

I am also thinking of DPM who in 2024 sent a donation so I could upgrade my phone (=camera).  I got one here because in Europe they still have a physical SIM tray.  I have a physical SIM for my Italian number.  The newest models do also.  The 18 would be a massive camera upgrade and longer battery life but it is a little heavier.
