San Carlo ai Catinari has been closed up for years, since earthquake that nailed Norcia. It is a grand counter-reformation church held by the Barnbites.
I saw the door … OPEN?!?!?!? (Look at that sky.)

On my way to Gammarelli, by a different route, I spotted something I don’t remember seeing. It commemorates an apparition of Mass at S. M. in Portico.

At Barbiconi (a clerical shop) an ironic juxtaposition.

Serious scissors at Gammarelli.

I went to complain about something. They were super accommodating ! Then we got into a discussion of details. This is the kind of lining, cotton, I will have with the remake of a set I was not pleased with. There were things I specified in the remake that are “archaic”.

It is really important to know, going in, what you want and how to express it. And … TO express it.

What a beautiful church! One doesn’t usually hear about the Barnabites much. I only found out about them a few years back when we decided on the name of one of my sons, Alexander. Looked into the different St. Alexanders out there, and I found out about St. Alexander Sauli, who was a Barnabite and actually the confessor of St. Charles! I’ve grown a devotion to him, and we chose him as our young son’s patron saint.
His feast day was actually just celebrated a few days ago on the 11th. I wonder if there were any images of St. Alexander Sauli inside this church. Relics, maybe? He’s definitely a saint worthy of more people knowing about!
