ACTION ITEM REVIVED! The “Birettas for Seminarians Project”

action-item-button“We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today, we celebrate our BIRETTA Day!” – (pace Pres. Pullman)

On the same day I received an appeal from a seminarian for help with his seminary bill (yes… that is how it works), I also received a note from a seminarian about the old …

BIRETTAS FOR SEMINARIANS PROJECT.

Here’s how it works.

  • Seminarians contact the great John Hastreiter at Leaflet Missal Co. with their hat size.
  • YOU readers get in touch with the same John.
  • YOU readers buy birettas and John matches them.
  • John then sends the birettas out to the seminarians.
  • You remain anonymous to each other (anonymous is best).

Thus, the Biretta For Seminarians Project.

This is a small way to fight back against the oppression from the Whatever High Atop The Thing which seeks the obliteration of all things traditional.

YOU, dear readers, back in the day supplied some 200 birettas to seminarians.  Kudos.  I run into priests often who say that, when they were in seminary, they got birettas this way.

Some old thank you notes from seminarians with spiffy new birettas HERE and HERE.

Seminarians and potential donors…

Contact John in “church goods” at Leaflet Missal in St. Paul – 651-209-1951.  EXT. 331

If John is away, leave a voicemail with your phone number and he will call you back ASAP.

DO NOT WRITE TO ME TO ASK FOR A BIRETTA!

There is also a SATURNO FOR CLERICS Project.  Ask John about that, too!
