Lighter but still serious fare

Some lighter fare… though with a serious point.

In Spanish:

The Vatican prohibits the use of Twitter during the Conclave.

“Let me in!  I’m not Twitter, I’m the Holy Spirit!”

And, from ZENIT, a recent photo it seems of His Holiness Benedict XVI in the gardens at Castel Gandolfo at one of the pools feeding the goldfish or koi.  Looks like he is scattering some old bread and crumbs.

At least it is a photo in which he is wearing the now famous brown shoes.

Hopefully someone has told Cardinal Mahony this.

Nice picture of Benedict XVI. He looks very serene, as if a huge weight has been taken from his shoulders. May God bless him with many peaceful days. +JMJ+

I hope he has no regrets about his decision. He shouldn’t.

We are blessed just to live in his time.

AND it appears the pelegrina is gone, too. As the Press Office said: just a simple white cassock and brown shoes.

  4. pfreddys says:

I don’t want this to seem critical, because I have a great love for Benedict. But isn’t unusual that he is still wearing the white outfit of a pope? [Nope, not strange at all.] I would have thought he would revert to a plain outfit of a regular priest-probably more comfortable too. [The Roman cassock is the plain outfit of a regular Roman priest.]

Yes, Papa Benedict’s shoes will be too big to fill. ^^ I watched a wonderful short on Benedict XVI’s cobbler. You can watch it here if interested:

In the picture, he looks peaceful and happy. I miss him.
As far as the tweets go with regards to Cardinal Mahoney, it seems no one is interviewing him so perhaps he has to give his “take” on “all things Rome” by tweeting…who knows. The interviews I have watched have all revolved around Cardinals George, O’Malley, O’Brien, DiNardo and Wuerl.

Actually, Clinton R., I don’t think that pellegrine weigh that much.

Lovely photo of Benedict XVI. He does indeed look oh so relaxed. No more stress at the work place.
God Bless him with many more fruitful years.

Dumb question, but is this a recent photo from Castel Gandalfo???
    Viva Benedetto!

In these tense days filled with anxiousness, I think we can all appreciate some much needed levity. Kudos to you, Animadversor.

  18. Darren says:

Will he continue wearing the white zucchetto as Pope Emeritus? He appears to be in this photo.

Re: HighMass Dumb question, but is this a recent photo from Castel Gandalfo???

He has the brown shoes, not the red ones, so yep :)

  19. LarryW2LJ says:

At least in the photo, he’s not using a cane, either. Hopefully, he will regain some strength with rest and time.
