How have we lost the word “trooper”? “Troops” is both the singular and plural form… and neither refers to a single soldier.
This is how we end up with Bishops who don’t know what “ineffable” means.
That sounds snarkier than I’d like it to. But Fr. Z, I know you care about our language!
