About this blog…
“This blog is like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” – Fr. Z

Wonderful about St. Joseph! “Terror of Demons”
ABORTION PILL RESCUE NETWORK
- The most evident mark of God’s anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clerics who are priests more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds.

Don’t rely on popes, bishops and priests.
“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

As for Latin…
"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II

Let us pray…
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Happy Easter Father!
May God bless you and your important apostolate this year.
Happy Easter to you Father, your family and brother priests as well !
Surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia!
And the same to you and yours, Father.
Happy Easter to you as well, Father Z!
A happy and blessed Easter to you as well, Father!
We were visiting Wash DC this Easter and went to St Mary Mother of God for Mass in the Extraordinary Form. It was Father\’s first solemn mass and he did a wonderful job. The music was exquisite. The reverence and focus entirely on Christ. If only I could witness this every Sunday morning.
A Blessed Easter, Fr. Z and everyone!
a very blessed Easter and a heartfelt thank you for this your Apostolate, a beacon of sanity in an seemingly inverted world. May God repay you a hundredfold for Your good words
I was blessed this morning at Holy Mass to hear my favorite line from the Roman liturgy: “Dic nobis, Maria, quid vidisti in via?” (cf. The Easter Sequence, Victimae paschali laudes. Glorious.
Christus surrexit! Vere surrexit sicut dixit! Alleluia!
Tom A.: How crowded was it at St Marys? I haven’t been in a while, but last time it was standing room only.
Blessed Easter to all ++
I attend the SSPX chapel here in Wichita, KS, and the last thing Father Robinson said in his homily was that His Excellency Bishop Fellay was about to start the ‘THIRD ROSASARY CRUSADE” of the Society and that the two intensions are going to be for the Consecration of Russia to be done (re-done?) and for greater appriciation and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary ….I cannot help but think that this is like a high stakes poker game and His Excellency just pushed ‘all-in’ would this be a Crusade that would be well recieved by other Traditional minded groups like the FSSP and the ICK or could this be a big wedge used against the Society ?
Blessed Easter +
Happy Easter! May God continue to bless you and keep you in His care.
The Easter Mass I attended had one special expression of God’s grace.
The priest is a bit of a timid man, a good man but a bit timid. And he fearless preached the Gospel of Christ Jesus during his homily. I was stunned by the force and clarity of his speaking, and the incredible depth of truth that came from his mouth. The Spirit was strongly with him, and he obviously touched many hearts. I suspect he brought back some souls that had been away from the Church for some time, by God’s grace.
The man very nearly received a standing ovation.
A Blessed Easter to you, Father!
Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!
Went to the best Ordinary Form Easter Vigil ever last night at St. John the Beloved in McLean. Celebrant was Fr. Scalia. Full complement of altar servers, incense, etc.
Blessing of Fire, Paschal Candle Procession, Exsultet: Latin
All 7 Lessons in the vernacular, with solemn chanting of Psalm and Collects
Gloria in Latin with orchestral choir
Litany in Latin
Baptism, Confirmation, and renewal in vernacular
Offertory, Preface, Sanctus, Canon, Pater Noster, Agnus Dei (no Sign of Peace): Latin
Ad orientem from Preface until Communion
Communion standing with paten, with option to kneel
Communio, Reflection, Post-Communio in Latin
The Ordinary Form in all its glory. This is how it was intended.
Thank you Father, for the wonderful work
I listened EARLY this morning to Fr. Z’s Exultet podcast, then kissed my husband good night, as he labored on a college paper. This morning we both made it up and to Easter Mass on Post. We prayed for all priests and those called to a vocation to Holy Orders.
Interestingly the altar servers were all boys, and the Lay Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist were all men, very active in the Parish.
A sign perhaps?
Happy Easter, Father, to you and to all the fellow-readers of your wonderful blog. Thank you for your work.
Tu nobis vitor Rex, miserere.
Tu nobis victor Rex, miserere.
Anti-spam word: review then post.
HAPPY EASTER! BUONA PASQUA!
I attended the Traditional Latin Mass for the first time yesterday, at the Easter Vigil. I don’t think I could have chosen a better time for my first time attending the usus antiquior. I had seen several TLMs on television before and really studied my Baronius hand missal (and visited this great blog everyday!) , but nothing could have prepared me for such a marvelous encounter with the mysteries of our faith. As a side note, I am nineteen years old, so I wasn’t motivated by any sort of nostalgia, as some hippy left-overs at my university and elsewhere might claim. I was motivated only by a hunger for authentic, undiluted Catholic liturgy that would lift up my heart to Almighty God.
God bless you, Father, and thank you for all the work that you do. Have a blessed Easter!
Christos voskrese! Voistinu voskrese!
We went to the Russian Catholic church last night (after we went to Easter Vigil at our Roman parish). We’ve been before, but brought five of our friends who had never been to a Russian Catholic church before (most had never been to any Eastern liturgy). We loved it, they loved it, the parish were glad to have us, and it was truly a night brighter than any day, extending nearly to the dawn.
Have a blessed and glorious Pascha, Fr. Z!
A joyful and blessed Easter to you Father.
Happy Easter, Father and everyone else!
A blessed pascha, Father. Christ is truly risen!
Christ is Risen!
Indeed he is Risen!
A very Happy Easter to you, Father!
God continue to bless your ministry and work.
Happy Easter Father!
Have a blessed Easter Father!

A blessed easter to you, father!
A Blessed Easter to you today Father Z. May God continue to bless you for all the wonderful work you do for us.
Happy Easter to my favorite blogger. May the Lord continue to bless your efforts here, and may He bring you blessings upon blessings!
I echo what Joseph said –
“a very blessed Easter and a heartfelt thank you for this your Apostolate, a beacon of sanity in an seemingly inverted world. May God repay you a hundredfold for Your good words”
Happy Easter, Father (my “far-away-priest”)
A joyful and blessed Easter to you,Father Z.
A blessed and happy Easter be yours Father Z.
Many thanks for all your hard work, your joyful appreciation of daily life, and the spiritual nourishment you provide for us.
May God’s grace continue to fill your heart, life, and ministry.
Petrus: The church was packed. Several were standing in the back. I have been to many EF Masses in my home state of CT, but this one took the cake. Amazing.
Happy Easter to you, Father.
Christ is risen!
Happy Easter, Fr. Z!
A Blessed Pascha, as our Orthodox cousins would say.
May all have a blessed and joyful Easter.
A happy and blessed Pasqua to you Father.
Happy Easter Father. And thank you for your apostolate. My favourite blog and, by far, the most informative.
Happy Easter Fr. Z. And thank you for your work on this blog, your bloggers, and the EXSULTET. The whole Church is blessed because of this blog.
A very blessed Easter to you, too, Father. –And may God abundantly bless your blog.
Easter blessings to you Father. What a wonderful Triduum we experienced at St. Mary’s. To have the most beautiful liturgies with such reverent priests AND the Communion rail brought back was more than I had ever hoped for! Thank you for spending these holy days with us and please come again!
Hey Fr. Z it was great having breakfast with you this morning! Loved the impersonations! Hope you come back to St. Mary’s soon.
No, it’s St. Mary’s in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
A Happy and Blessed Easter to you Father.
Thank you Father. I extend the same greetings to you and will keep you in my prayers.
God bless you, Father, and thank you for all you do. Happy Easter from a Trad, filled heart and soul with the Triduum and a glorious Easter Sunday Solemn High EF Mass at St. Stephen’s Sacramento.
Dear Fr. Z:
We wouldn’t have this privilege to thank you for giving us an opportunity to thank you and to pray for God’s blessing’s for your sacrifices without WDTPRS and your works.
Please receive our humble gift of love for all you do and thanks from the heart from another trady.
Happy Easter to you too, Fr. Z.
And thank you for coming to St. Mary’s for Holy Week. The Vigil was beautiful and reverent and for that I am very grateful to you, Fr. Sirico, Fr. Grondz, the servers & readers, the choir and everyone else who helped.
Happy Easter from America’s Heartland. May God shower you and your work with His grace. And welcome home to all those readers received into Holy Mother Church this year. (JoyfulMom7 et al) :-)
Happy Easter to you Father Z!
And best wishes to Msgr. Fellay and his efforts to see Russia consecrated
Happy Easter to you Fr. Z., and to all my fellow readers of this blog. Father, thank you for
A blessed and happy Easter to you, Father Z!
I go to St. Mary’s in D.C. every Sunday.
While we’ve gotten nothing out of Summorum Pontificum due to a very unfriendly bishop in terms of tradition, the upside is St. Mary’s is packed every Sunday.
And the priest who said his first Solemn High Mass is actually a priest of the New York Diocese studying at Catholic U. He’s fantastic too.
Dear Father Z, Happy Easter and may God bless you and your work.
Thanks in no small part to you, I (a severely lapsed cradle Catholic) was received back (confirmed) into the Church this Easter, and my children were baptised and/or received back to.
Your blog and podcast played an essential role on my way back to the Faith and I will pray for you and your Apostolate to touch more souls for our Lord this way.
Allelujah from Australia! He is risen indeed.
God bless and keep you Father.
Happy Easter. “He is Risen.”
“Surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia!”
Happy Easter everyone!
A joyful Easter season to all.
I was fortunate enough to attend the EF form of the Easter vigil at the Shrine of Christ the King Sovereign Priest on Chicago’s south side. I wanted to experience this once more before I die. It was beautiful, from the fire out on the front sidewalk to the blessing of the Easter baskets at the end. Despite the joy of the season, it makes me so sad to witness what we have lost. Why, oh why?
Same to you, Fr. Z
A blessed Easter to you, Father Zuhlsdorf, and to all your readers as well!
Thank you Father and Happy Easter to you and all who are close to you as well.
May the joy of Easter remain with you alwayas, Father.
Happy Easter to you too Father and to all WDTPRSers and ZChatters!
Happy Easter to you Father Z. We appreciate all you do, your wisdom and diligence, kindness and faithfulness to God.
He is Truly Risen!
He is Risen. Indeed He is Risen, ALLELUIA!
Glory to God in the Highest and peace to men of goodwill!
Chrystus Zmartwychwstal! Prawdziwie Zmartwychwstal! (Poliah)
Christus Resurrexit! Vere Resurrexit!
Polish, not Poliah :)
Christos anesti! Alithos anesti! Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen!
We went to a Russian Greek Orthodox Catholic service in English that started at midnight, lasted more than three hours, was completely chanted (except for the homily), and called for repeated loud affirmations from the congregation that Christ is indeed risen. The acclamation “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life,” was especially participatory with everyone’s stomping their feet at the “trampling.” We would’t have been as inspired to attend this wonderful liturgy if it weren’t for Fr. Z’s blog, which so marvelously reminds us of the rich traditions in our faith. Thank you, Father!
Happy Easter Father!
Some good news: I went to mass with my friendly agnostic roommate. She’s now saying she may want to convert. Please pray for her.
Also, since we are both anime fans, I want to share the most concise summation of “why Latin?” as I explained it to her: “It’s like the dub vs. subtitles.”
Happy Easter, Father Z!
Fukkatsu-sai omedetou gozaimasu! (Japanese)
Happy Easter, Fr. Z, from here in n. central IA. May God continue to bless you and your apostolate.
Happy Easter Father Z!
