“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Over the last 3 years of my journey with Tradition I have heard much of what this good Bishop stated in the video from a friend that has long attended the SSPX. What I find most compelling in this video, if I understand correctly, is that the Bishop is now part of the SSPX.
Fr. Z – you have played an intregal role in my journey, I pray for many more years of your Blog.
This is very heartening. And just 10 days after the release of the must-see movie “Nefarious.” Grateful to God and our Blessed Mother.
Please, your view Fr Z, can we take this as it seems? If so I am delighted but I find it hard to believe out of Pope Francis. Am I being to cynical ?
Where is part two?
Fascinating. Thanks for posting this, Father.
This might seem superficial but I don’t think so. Compare this bishop’s appearance and demeanor with the joy-faced grinners we are afflicted with today. This is a serious bishop, one who comprehends the weight of the matter, and comports himself appropriately. And yes, his gentle disposition is a counterpoint to the truth bomb that his words are. His perspective is compatible with what many laity already see as how it was, is. His perspective is valuable and validating too. We look forward to the next installment. Thank you for posting this.
It has an interesting tone, especially regarding pope Francis. I wonder where it is going. If he is doing a series and then ending by announcing he’s joining them, I don’t think that will accomplish much. If he is supporting their regularization, then ok- but how will he do this as bishop emeritus?
Meanwhile CM will probably respond with their usual “But…but…but…”
It’s like a breath of fresh air in a room long stagnant with foul odors. No fatuous “happy talk” about how wonderful everything has been since VII. This is how Bishops should speak – the plain truth, and so rarely do.
I saw this last night on r/TraditionalCatholics.
His Excellency dropped a huge truth bomb that blew my mind.
As for the Archbishop’s status: He’s retired to a SSPX house at the encouragement of the Ecclesia Dei Commission. I don’t think he formally joined the SSPX.
Wow a German “BISHOP” who speaks the truth. Who knew? I thought that they were almost extinct. God knows there are none here in Chile.

Chrisc,
Where is it going? To the next conclave.
A very close friend is a priest of Chur. It has 340 diocesan priests and 160 religious priests. Compare to St Paul–Minneapolis, which has about the same number of diocesan priests but fewer religious priests.
A lot of hay is being made out of “Pope Francis said…” 10 years in, it is not about what Pope Francis says, it is about what he does. So I wouldn’t make too much out of that, especialy as it was a private conversation.
I am interested in seeing the rest of the video series…production value is good and, as others have said, it is nice to see a bishop being clear on important matters.
“The will to this break is evident”
Is he accusing Pp Francis of formal heresy / schism? If so, that is hands down the boldest part of this video.
Jim Dorchak, Bishop Huonder is actually Swiss, not German. That said, I like where he’s going so far.
