Veneral Sky Show

The Moon and Venus are at it again in the early evening sky. They are just a few degrees apart. However, given your Moon’s crescent state, you may be able to see some great Earth Shine.  It is also called “Da Vinci Glow” after the guy who figured out what it was.

    In Rhode Island, I was able to observe some of the best earthshine I have ever seen shortly after sunset yesterday.

    Thank you for mentioning the name of the phenomenon, which I could not recall.

    As happens all too frequently, when cool things are going on in the heavens, my local skies are overcast.

    When the total solar eclipse takes place over North America next August, the umbra of totality is supposed to sweep just a few miles north of where I live. I will make a novena to St. Elijah to keep away the clouds that day.
