VIDEO PILGRIMAGE to the Holy Land: Day 4

Continued from HERE.

Last year when we were teetering on the brink of normal and 1984, I was chaplain for a Traditional Mass pilgrimage to the Holy Land.  We had wonderful participants, whom I think of with fondness to this day.  We visited the important places and, when we had Mass, we used special Mass Propers composed for those places.

Along the way, I made super short videos.

Since we are one year out, I thought I would take you on a mini pilgrimage with those videos.

VIDEO PILGRIMAGE to the Holy Land: Day 1

Last year when we were teetering on the brink of normal and 1984, I was chaplain for a Traditional Mass pilgrimage to the Holy Land.  We had wonderful participants, whom I think of with fondness to this day.  We visited the important places and, when we had Mass, we used special Mass Propers composed for those places.

The pilgrimage ended with Ash Wednesday and we returned to the States.  COVID was breaking out in Israel at the time and already there was a ban on travel to Israel.  The hotel we were originally booked, before we got upgraded, in Tiberias, wound up locked up because Korean pilgrims were suspected of having the Wuhan Devil.

God guided us through thick and thin and we had a fantastic pilgrimage, all with the Traditional Mass.

Along the way, I made super short videos.

Since we are one year out, I thought I would take you on a mini pilgrimage with those videos.

Your Sunday Sermon Notes – 1st Sunday of Lent 2021

Was there a GOOD point made in the sermon you heard at the Mass for your Sunday (obligation or none), either live or on the internet? Let us know what it was.

Too many people today are without good, strong preaching, to the detriment of all. Share the good stuff.

Also, are your churches opening up? What was attendance like?

For my part, I spoke about how the three temptations which 1 John 2 describes (lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life), are contained in the threefold temptation about the tree in the garden by the serpent to our First Parents (the fruit was good to eat, the tree was beautiful, and godlike knowledge).  The first Adam fell in the garden.  The new Adam was victorious in the anti-garden, wilderness.  The three-fold temptation of the garden was repeated by the Devil and Christ overcame them in His human nature as well as His divine (for which there was no temptation possible).

lust of the flesh fruit was good to eat change these stones to bread
lust of the eyes the tree looked good I will give to you all you see for you to possess without suffering
pride of life godlike knowledge throw yourself off and all will be amazed by you

Lent is our time for prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which work against those three primordial temptations.

lust of the flesh fasting
lust of the eyes almsgiving
pride of life prayer

And we take on mortifications to deepen these and also to offer reparation.

20 Feb – Feast of Sts Francisco and Jacinta of Fatima – We need their intercession now more than ever.

Young Jacinta and Francisco, the seers of Fatima were canonized in 2017. They are, I believe, the youngest canonized non-martyr saints on the calendar.

“On the calendar…”.  They aren’t on the traditional Roman calendar.  I’ve written about that before.  We have to do something to harmonize the traditional and modern sanctoral cycles.  I digress.

In May 2017 I wrote about the miracle for the canonization of the two young saints.  HERE

We need their intercession NOW more than ever.  Think about the message of Our Lady at Fatima.   Think about where we are in modern society with its trends, trends so massively offensive to God.  Think about how some in the Church, in positions of real influence and power, have caved into those trends and either step aside for the juggernaut or actively join in pushing it forward.

Have an image of the vision the children were shown of souls falling into Hell, the same image which the amazing St. Veronica Giuliani was shown during her brief translation to Hell.

Souls falling into Hell like snow flakes… like rain.

Sts. Jacinta and Francisco, PRAY FOR US.
