And another well-dressed bishop:
“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

Why do we think the deacon and subdeacon are wearing surplices rather than albs?
The Deacon and Subdeacon are wearing albs. The Assistant Deacons have on
surplices under their dalmatics, as the rubrics require.
What Church/Cathedral is that? Anyone know? I’d like to see more pictures of the building too! As always, thanks Father!
Ted, it’s the church of San Isidro Labrador in Santiago, Chile:

I should have noticed that the link I posted above (itself from the TNLM link Fr Z posted) is not a website of the parish pictured in it. The website is from a vendor of restored old vestments, etc. and presumably displays some of their wares.
Question: Does the color of the bishop’s gloves (gauntlets?) match the color of the vestments?

Celebrant:
Archbishop Bernardino Piñera Carvallo, Archbishop Emeritus of La Serena, Chile.
Born, 22 Sep 1915 at Santiago de Chile. Age: 92.34 years old.
Ordained a Priest 1947.
Consecrated a Bishop on February 11, 1958, appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Talca, Chile, by Pope Pius XII.
It is a great thing. But why is the good Bishop preaching from the pulpit? Should not a Bishop address the Faithful from below at Pontifical High Mass?
It is sad to see however that apparently no Maniples were present or available anymore. I guess some post-conciliar modernist-revolutionary sacristans (I think clerics returning from Rome after the “Pastoral Orientation from the Council at the French College”) destroyed them. They sensed already early on that their “reform” would not last 50 years.
BTW: a nice link http://www.gloria.tv/
Is Msgr. really entitled to wear the pallium as “Archbishop Emeritus” of Serena?
