Priests! Be not afraid! – A priest says his first TLM

I am speaking right now with a priest via skype who has just said his first TLM.

Some quotes:

"The more priests who start saying the older form of the Mass, other priests will find the courage to do so themselves.  Once you tell them that you got the things and learned to do it, it will give them the courage to do it also.  Maybe they think it is too hard, but when they see other priests…

… It’s all explained in the missal.  Just read it.  You don’t need the DVD going.  Just say the black and do the red…

… You are a thousand times more focused.  This is real. …

… Having now said my first Mass, I am more motivated than ever to learn.  Questions occurred to me that didn’t occur when studying it.  …

… I am infinitely more motivated now.  … "

Te Deum laudamus!

  1. Scott W. says:

Sometimes the best way to learn to swim is to dive right in the middle of the pool.

  2. TJM says:

Father Z, thanks for this wonderful news and message. I wonder how old this priest is? Although I may be wrong, I suspect he is on the
young side. All the best, Tom

  3. musicus says:

A world of spirituality opens up.

  4. I hate to say this, but it reminds me of my mother and cooking. She grew up in a household with a mother and a grandmother in the house and the other grandmother next door. She wasn’t allowed to do more than peel a potato before she left for college.

    She’s an excellent cook now.

She always says “I was literate. I read books.”

  5. I totally agree with Mr. Tinkler: litteracy is of the essence on this. That, and a strong will.
To get ME, not the smartest around, to serve in Mass it took some weeks. In the same time, a priest can lear (or re-learn) High Mass properly.

  6. miss book says:

    Thanks be to God!

  7. Ed the Roman says:

    …Te Dominum deprecemur!

  8. Ygnacia says:

“You are a thousand times more focused. This is real.”

For us in the pews too. Perhaps it isn’t right, but since I have been attending the EF, the Novus Ordo just seems so…lite.
