Sad and troubling news. Fr. McAfee offered the first TLM I attended. Prayers underway now.

  4. As of now, there is no confirmation that Father McAfee suffered a stroke, at least not from those in the parish who look after him. He was taken to the hospital last Tuesday evening, after losing sensation on his left side, particularly his arm. While the most likely explanation is not ruled out, they are still conducting tests, and we remain optimistic.

The External Celebration of Corpus Christi at St John the Beloved this Sunday at noon, with a Missa Cantata and Procession of the Blessed Sacrament, will proceed as scheduled.

  5. Flambeaux says:

    Thanks for the update, David.

  6. Paul Murnane says:

Prayers going up. Always enjoy the good Father’s perspective.

  7. A Rosary for Fr. McAfee…

  8. Father McAfee is one of the great priests of the Arlington Diocese.

  9. Greetings. I am able to confirm that Father McAfee did suffer a minor stroke earlier this week. He is expected to be released before month’s end, but will still require rest and physical therapy.

Not to mention the prayers and good wishes of all of you, which are most appreciated.

  10. Diane says:

David: Do let Fr. McAfee know how much we care about him and are praying. I love reading his posts.

God bless Fr. McAfee. His liturgies inspired a love of the Latin Mass in me.

+Prayer promised! Liturgy of the Hours and Holy Mass

  15. Marysann says:

David, could you keep us informed about Father McAfee’s progress. I am a former parishioner of his, but we are living overseas now. My husband and I are concerned about Father, and had a Mass said for his recovery in Jerusalem Saturday evening.

  16. Marysann et al:

Father McAfee was released from the hospital yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, and has been resting. He said a private Mass in the rectory early this morning, and was not able to join us for the Missa Cantata with Procession. But he was able to receive a few visitors later in the day, including yours truly. He still has some difficulty, and tires easily, but is otherwise in good spirits. He’s also been catching up on the blogs, so perhaps he’ll be able to speak for himself. I conveyed to him the prayers and felicitations of WDTPRS readers, and he is most appreciative.
