Prayed a rosary for them earlier this morning. How tragic.

May the dead rest in God’s peace and the living be comforted by His love.

I can’t imagine what these poor families are going through. Thank you for the alert!

  5. James says:

Just learned that one of those on board was D. Pedro Luiz of the House of Orleans-Branganza, third in line to the titular Imperial House of Brazil. Pray for him and his very Catholic family.

I heard about it on the radio-how terrible!

    What agony for the families!

I also heard that one of the passengers was a member of the former royal family of Brazil, as James mentioned.

God have mercy on all their souls….

  7. Charivari Rob says:

Dreadful news. Praying – and more definitely needed.

I just heard (through my Mom and Aunt) from one of my younger cousins in Ireland. Three Irish passengers on the flight were known to her – a year or two behind her in medical school and residency.

  8. Biff says:

I get frustrated every time I hear about the plane “going off the radar screens”

Folks, there is no radar coverage or separation for transatlantic flights! They operate virtually unchanged from the days of the Connies. To wit, HF radio position reports and a track system. That this is still tolerated in an era of satellites is incredible.
Perhaps, these poor folks lives’ have been offered up to change that
