The lunacy is spreading: Northern Ontario

One of these days, people are going to start fighting back.  When they do, I fear that the Left will gin up another pretense to escalate again.  That’s how this works.  It ramps up and up and up.

What plans are you making in your parishes?  Oh, right.  Authorities – coincidentally – don’t want people to make plans.

From CTV News about Northern Ontario.

Half a dozen religious statues beheaded in Sudbury

SUDBURY — There are currently a dozen statues at Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes property, and all are from the 1950s.

Recently, half of the statues were beheaded by vandals.

“We’re saddened,” said David Sirois, of Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie. “There’s enough volunteers and people who have donated to try and keep this site nice … for the general public. Then when you see damages like that, you wonder who would do that kind of thing?”

Officials found out about the damage a few weeks ago, and say the incident most likely happened in the middle of the night.

“Easier to be here without anyone noticing them easily, so and that’s probably why they were trying to be more quiet at doing it and just grabbing the parts that were easily accessible on the statues,” said Sirois.

He said after hearing about the damage, he immediately contacted Greater Sudbury Police, who said the investigation is ongoing.

“Unfortunately with no video surveillance, and no witnesses at the scene we do not have a suspect at the moment,” said Sarah Kaelas, of Greater Sudbury Police Service.

“It has been reassigned to our break enter and robbery unit, which falls under our criminal investigation division.”

Police are urging anyone with any information to come forward.

For now the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie is looking at getting the damaged statues replaced by an organization in Toronto, but the cost is unknown at this time.

Specifically beheadings, eh? Hmmmm. Wonder who would do that?

Sounds like a religious hate crime to me.

  2. RosaryRose says:

I am ready to fight back. Any ideas? I’m offering up, fasting, praying the rosary with LifeSite news daily, and our Pastor has agreed to learn to TLM if I can get enough support for it!!

This seems so much like LOTR.
“Come on Gandalf! Move your bloomin’ – “ oops. Wrong movie. Where is Gandalf with those dead Kings?

We are here! Ask the Saints to help us. Mary Queen of Heaven help us!

    I’m ready.

  3. JustaSinner says:

Everyone is waiting for Hugo First…BE HUGO FIRST and LEAD, NOT FOLLOW. Organize civil patrols, multiple people watching statues. Cellphone cameras with 911 on speed dial. Organized prayer vigils at statue sites. Strength in numbers without armed confrontations. St Michael will be there. Jesus will protect as He knows a bit about agony in gardens. Evil cannot prevail against those armed with the Grace of God and His protection.

We are in the midst of a spiritual battle. That’s ok, that’s the way it is. It has been raging from Genesis and will continue to Apocalypse. Jesus Christ will have the last word. As for the kinetic (a widespread use of various munitions) battle in these United States, it is presently intermittent and low-intensity.

Strengthen your faith. But, also recognize Allies. Allies can be Protestant, Mormon, Eastern Orthodox, Jewish, Mormon, Hindu, etc. The Enemy is the Party of Death (totalitarians, Alinskyites, Gramsciites, anarchists, eugenicists, occultists, arsonists, iconoclasts, socialists, Marxists, nihilists, etc.).

Generally speaking, a Pro-Life and Pro-Reublic Southern Baptist is an ally. Catholic tribalism is almost certainly an error in what may lie ahead: in these United States the leadership and numbers are obviously insufficient to ensure a reasonable victory. That’s ok, that’s the way it is in the year of our Lord 2020. Find Allies.

To keep this somewhat brief, just two more points.

When the phrase “All Lives Matter” produces rage, when the term “Woke” means one has given their allegiance to Cthulhu, this means, among other things, that unusual, unique and unpleasant events will occur during a kinetic civil war. Steel yourself.

Very briefly: there is only one facility in the U.S. that builds and services the M1 tank; there are only several facilities that build and service aircraft carriers; a number of generals, admirals, politicians, journalists, judges and intelligence officials (active and retired) are malicious or selfish opportunists; foreign military officers and pilots (whose allegiance may vary) train at U.S. air bases, military bases and war colleges.

Second, a kinetic civil war, to say the least, will be disorienting due to Party of Death propaganda. Allies can help one make distinctions between words and the realities of people and events.

Deo volente, things will simmer down with intermittent spikes in activity over the next few years and decades. Then again, they may not. Faith and Fortitude. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

[Your mention of a kinetic civil war is chilling, to say the least. I’m afraid this is what the Left wants and it is what they are ramping up to spark. But for your Lovecraft reference…]

  5. APX says:

I didn’t even realize people lived in Northern Ontario. This is strange given the location. It’s literally a forested area with no cellphone coverage off the Trans Canada highway. It’s not at all like Southern Ontario.

  6. Mac in Calgary says:

    @APX
as the Arrogant Worms said, “Canada’s Really Big.”

  7. Semper Gumby says:

Fr. Z: Thank you. Those sparks are a problem. If it goes kinetic among the Left’s difficulties, even with some professional help, will be logistics.

  8. Semper Gumby says: logistics

Slightly consoling. Unless the Left has control of the materiel. Not too far in the back of my mind is a recent fleetwide FRAGO forbidding church attendance. Just a small symptom, but troublesome.

  9. Semper Gumby says:

Fr. Z: “Unless the Left has control of the materiel.” The supply chain will be under non-routine stress for several reasons in such circumstances.

About that FRAGORD (DTG: 232340Z JUN 20 from COMUSFLTFORCOM NORFOLK VA, SUBJ: NAVNORTH FRAGORD 20-024.013 IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS).

    and:

    https://www.newsweek.com/navy-bans-personnel-attending-church-opinion-1515162

Fleet Forces Command today said that the FRAGORD was revised last night to remove the word “social” from house gatherings, essentially permitting house religious services.

[Yeah… and not a moment too soon. I heard from a couple active duty that their COs asked them if they had gone to church on Sunday. Not good.]

  10. Semper Gumby says:

Fr. Z wrote: “Just a small symptom, but troublesome.” Good point. Another troublesome symptom is the Sightline Media Group, which owns the Military Times, Army Times, Marine Corps Times, Air Force Times and Navy Times. These newspapers are not official Department of Defense newspapers. These newspapers are Left-leaning tabloids.

A few months ago, just prior to Valentine’s Day, at least two of these papers ran non-critical “news reports” about an adult website that was offering the services of its actors and actresses for live-chats with soldiers overseas. Essentially, these newspapers provided free advertising for that adult website. Fortunately, anecdotal evidence shows that the vast majority of overseas military personnel, and their families at home, decided that was a stupid idea.

  11. Eugene says:

I love my American brothers and sisters but your lack of knowledge about the great white North (aka Canada) can get irritating. Northern Ontario is huge and for the most part sparsely populated but it has significant population centres, Sudbury, Timmins, Kendra, and Saul Ste Marie where the statues were decapitated. This city has over 100,000 people and is neighbour to Sault Ste. Marie Michigan just across a water way linking Lake Huron and Lake Superior.
Folks Canada is lost from a Judeo Christian standpoint, our Bishops are cowards, the laity are mostly non practicing and Many of the few that practice hold non Catholic views. We are led by a “Catholic” prime minister who is rabid homosexualist and abortion promoter and has legalized euthanasia supported by our local “Catholic” member of parliament who belongs to my parish and who was an EMC and reader. Our education system in the province is run by radical “Catholic” teachers who march in gay pride parades and promote all sort of unCatholic things.
And our faith leaders, silent to a fault. In my diocese we have a Catholic university named after the great St Jerome who flew the pride flag for June. I contact the president’s office and our Bishop and chancellor and surprise surprise not one response. I am sickened by all of it. I am close to throwing in the towel and just staying home from now on with my devotions. This can longer be the church of Christ.

  12. JonPatrick says:

What Eugene said. My family lived in the 1950s in the mining town of Elliot Lake about 100 miles West and North of Sudbury. While the area is fairly sparsely inhabited there are significant population centers in Sudbury and “the Soo” for us these were the “big city” where we would go on special occasions e.g. Christmas shopping. Although the area at that time was majority Protestant there was a significant Catholic population amongst the French Canadian minority as well as immigrants from Ireland etc.

  13. Semper Gumby says:

Eugene: Thanks for your interesting comment. Remarkable scenery, up North. I spent some time in the Great White North for cold weather training before we continued on to Norway. In Canada we saw plenty of spectacular lakes, wide-open sky and moose, but unfortunately no sign of Bob and Doug McKenzie. Here in the U.S we have our share of lukewarm Christians and anti-Christians. You may have heard of National People’s Radio. They’re saying that slavery and white supremacy are because of, yep, you guessed it, Christianity. Well, that’s a cramped mindset. NPR is merely amplifying the decadence of our current moment. And the glory of the decadent is always fleeting.

Psalm 19. The heavens declare the glory of God…

  14. Semper Gumby says:

    Fr. Z: Interesting.

    A piece of good news:

    https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/air-force-reverses-decision-to-punish-colonel-for-his-religious-beliefs

Rep. Collins and Rep. Lamborn wrote a 1 July letter to SecDef Esper regarding military religious freedom. Previously, there was a letter of 14 May by a number of Representatives to the SecDef. The letter of 14 May was replied to on 11 June by an Army Assistant Secretary.

The 1 July letter to the SecDef comes out of the gate strong. Also, note the final paragraph:

“In the meantime, to aid in future decisions regarding religious liberty cases, we have attached to this letter the suite of Federal laws, DoD regulations and guidance, and other executive resources protecting and explaining the religious freedom of servicemembers. ”

The Congressmen sent DoD regulations as an attachment to the SecDef…

  15. Semper Gumby says: good news

Yes, indeed, that IS good news.

More good news would be for Air Force A-10 Warthogs to visit the Antifa chaos sure to hatch up from the demonic muck this weekend.

On second thought perhaps a Harrier or two would be more practical for city streets.

  16. Semper Gumby says:

    “Warthogs and Harriers”

Fast-movers are always good for morale.

Another option is MRAPs filling the street curb to curb, loudspeakers blaring Dies irae and chucking out beef brisket and job applications.

  19. Semper Gumby says:

Sohrab Ahmari has a curious take on this in the Spectator. Here is how Ahmari sums up his article:

“Despite its appearances, the unrest roiling America is NOT a leftist revolution, but a counterrevolution of the neoliberal class against the nationalist revolution launched in 2016.”

    In the article he insists:

“So whatever you do, don’t call it a leftist revolution.”

Ahmari’s article is an Argument by Label or “Soldier argument.”

For Ahmari, the photo at the top of this post of decapitated statues at the Grotto of Our Lady is to be explained as “class struggle.” Nope, he should take a closer look.

Anti-Christianity, Iconoclasm, Antifa, BLM and many other trends, factors and groups were active before 2016. Ahmari’s article is a dud, that happens sometimes.
