Lighter Fare for the Easter Vigil

This just in…. cut from the Vatican video feed…

Another angle, from Eduard Habsburg’s twitter

I can’t decide.

Either the Borg have arrived or we have proof that the Vatican finally has an Amazon Prime account.

UPDATE… okay…

  1. TheCavalierHatherly says:

I can hear Richard Strauss playing in my head. Hopefully, none of the “Spirit of the Council” types figure out how to use animal bones to assert control or things could get ugly. (Uglier)

  2. Father G says:

My initial reaction was that it reminded me of the exterior of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, California.

  3. Charivari Rob says:

If it comes in one box, it’s not Amazon.

  4. jhogan says:

To quote Monty Python, “On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.”

  5. Not says:

They may think resistance id futile but the Church Militant is alive and well.

  6. Crysanthmom says:

    Happy Easter Father!

  7. JonPatrick says:

In the interests of moving away from fossil fuels, the Vatican has decided to install a small nuclear power plant in St. Peters.

  8. maternalView says:

    Ugh.

When our church was completely restored we put up with scaffolding everywhere for months. That was better than this box!

    Everything “they” do is ugly.

  9. Not says:

Yes Father G, How about the one in Brazil? The Metropolitan that looks like a washing machine agitator?

  10. Gaetano says:

They could have done a nice Tyvek drape with an image of the Baldachino on it.

  11. acardnal says:

Father Z, did I overlook it but I don’t recall reading your 2024 predictions and the results of your 2023 predictions.

  12. Patrick-K says:

    Nitpicking scaffolding covers?

  13. acardnal says:

    Thanks Father.

  14. Saint Rocco the Trubador says:

Repeating what Fr. G. stated (above), yes… this definitely reminds me of that awful post-modern and atrociously designed L.A. “cathedral”.

  15. Titus says:

I have always had the impression that those opaque scaffolding screens were required by some Italian regulation resulting from the confluence of aesthetic concern and a compulsion for government officiousness. The screens may just be par for the course for the scaffolding sub.

  16. Archlaic says:

Is anyone else worried about what is going on inside that box or what this “restoration” project entails? From sad experience, I trust neither the motives nor the results of anything this gang does…

  17. DeeEmm says:

    Happy Easter to you Father.

Now, does the box have kung pow chicken or beef with broccoli? Hot and crispy egg rolls? Hmmm….. getting hungry. Where do they sell good Chinese food around here?
