Pope Francis publishes a note accompanying the Final Document of the Synod of Bishops, and calls for creative implementation and a renewed commitment to communion, participation, and mission.https://t.co/dV8FU5nAuG

Pope Francis then goes on to describe the Document as part of the “ordinary Magisterium of the Successor of Peter” and asks that its authoritative nature be respected as such. “It represents a form of exercising the authentic teaching of the Bishop of Rome”, explains the Pope, adding that “it contains elements of novelty but aligns with what I clarified on October 17, 2015, when I stated that synodality is the proper interpretive framework for understanding hierarchical ministry”.
However, he clarifies that the Document “is not strictly normative” but rather a call for reflection differently applied in each context.
I don’t get it.
In cool news…
Nearly all the Extras in this famous scene were French expatriates & so the tears shed during the singing of ‘La Marseillaise’ were real as the fate of France during filming was entirely uncertain.

UPDATE:
I just scrambled to get my mother’s car started. It wouldn’t turn over due to a low battery (from 2022, so not that old). I don’t know what might have drained it. Her neighbor had some sort of service vehicle in the driveway and I ask the guy if he had cables. He produced a small portable car jump starter. After it was hooked up and warmed up, it did the trick. Handy. If you don’t have one you might consider getting one for yourself or as a Christmas gift. Right now there are BLACK FRIDAY sales. I looked at THIS ONE and put it on my list.
UPDATE:
I have some additional relics which need reliquaries. Thinking there might be a BLACK FRIDAY sale for them, too, I looked around and found this, which is like others that I have. But there is a curious item in the description. Could it be that it is intended only for St. Lawrence?

[NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.]
In Singapore, Gukesh won game 3 of the World Championship Match to tie the score at 1.5 to 1.5. Gukesh had a better position, but Ding was also in time trouble. He sort of froze in the last minute of his time and flagged. Poor Ding.
At OTB I won a game against a strong player. I prompted an exchange and went up a piece, sacked a couple of pawns for activity. My opponent rushed a move and blundered his remaining rook. Finis.
>>”I don’t get it.”
His Holiness wants the document to have all of his authority without it actually being owned by him so that he doesn’t have to own any heresy in the document.
His Holiness is also intent on making the system/the process/the synodality the authoritative reason for doing anything – the reason why it cannot be stopped is because no one has authority over it and no one is to be blamed for when it fails.
It is also very hard to organize against “the synodality” because you are organizing not against persons, ideas, or institutions but rather “the process” which, as it is not tied to anything particularly concrete, is very adept at just slithering away while ensnaring people in its machinations (as people have a tendency to desire to just go along with the current thing, if you present any “the process” as something normative people will go along with it).
And on page 19 Dr. Kwasniewski quotes Father John Zuhlsdorf!!
I’ll refrain from posting the quote so others might buy Dr. K’s book and read it themselves.

RE your mother’s car problems, the battery should not have died at just two years old! Check that an interior courtesy light isn’t ON. There might be one underneath a sun visor.
I, too, carry a portable jump start battery (lithium ion). Everyone should have one. They are rechargeable.
Rick ran his cafe with an iron fist.
Like how the band director looks to Rick to get the thumbs up.
Re the reliquary, it also says the power source is electric so maybe for a modern day St Lawrence?
The way I interpret the memo, is that they want people to accept whatever it says on an infallible level, without actually invoking the conditions necessary for that to happen. Kind of like how the modern church repeatedly claims the changes from Vatican II are infallible, despite the documents themselves stating they were of a pastoral nature only.
If the Holy Father requires me, obediently I will defer.
However, if he merely asks me then I do reply, “The Synod on Synodality, that I do not accept.”
Booster packs have come in handy many a time in trucking.
Bergman’s face encapsulates the heartache for France’s plight. A great actress in a great movie.
As for La Marseillaise, I can’t separate it from it’s beginning in the reign of terror. I find it repulsive.
Speaking of reigns of terror, it seems that the invocation of perpetual synodality is similar to the call to perpetual revolution from the communists.
Yes, the scene from Casablanca is great scene from what I consider one of the best movies ever made. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. But I share Sportfan’s misgivings about La Marseillaise’s origins and I frankly find its lyrics unpalatable. If I were French, I think I would have serious problems with it.

Thank you for posting this Casablanca clip. My wife and I went to a special sceening about 2 years ago; but we were the only ones who stood for the anthem — unlike how the audience participated, emotionally and physically, during Bogart weeks at Harvard in the 60’s.
