Daily Rome Shot 1667

I am able to accept some more Mass intentions right now. HERE

I’ve had a Croque Monsieur or Suze here more than once.

I should reintroduce handwriting in my life!

Remember… the TLM must be suppressed!

There is one “unique” Rome Rite… not.

White to move and mate in 4.

NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.

    The red beach balls are more offensive than the liturgical dancer.

    I don’t like the liturgical dancer, but I have never seen beach balls at Mass before. Mor do they have anything to do with the saint.

    I mean, if you want to scatter petals, or have people rappelling from the ceiling, you could do something like that in a fitting way, if you worked at it. But beach balls?

    1. Qf7+ Rxf7 {or Kh8}
    2. Rxd8+ Rf8 {or Bf8}
    3. Rdxf8+ Bxf8 {forced}
    4. Rxf8#

    If
    2. Rxd8+ Bf8
    3. Rxf8+ Rxf8 {forced}
    4. Rxf8#

    If
    1. Qf7+ Kh8
    2. Qxg7#

  3. A.S. Haley says:

    Let’s see if I can get this right. White mates in 4 or less:
    1. RxR RxR? (Black’s Rook is pinned, so can’t capture the Queen)
    2. Qf7+ Kh8 (forced)
    3. QxB++

    1. RxR QxN
    2. RxR+ BxR
    3. QxB++

    1. RxR QxP+
    2. KxQ RxR
    3. Qf7+ Kh8
    4. QxB++

    There may be other mates, or I may be wrong in mine. I’ll let others have at it.

  4. JabbaPapa says:

    I would always just get my croques monsieur (or more often croques madame) from street vendors, usually the one that was by Métro Odéon in the Latin Quarter (no longer exists sadly), who BTW also made excellent crêpes — I’d usually get either ham and cheese, or a nutella one.

  5. RichR says:

    What’s wrong with being distinctly Roman? In a world where everything is capitulating to the secular, hedonistic demands of a fallen world, is it any wonder young people are craving the stability and timelessness of Catholic tradition?

  6. Fr. Reader says:

    Being things as they are you can just celebrate am ordinary rite Mass:
    1) Using the language of an oppressed minority (guess which one)
    2) Using ecological vestments (linen instead of plastic)
    3) Adding ad lib prayers and gestures (that just by chance happen to coincide with the 1962 Missal)
    4) Celebrating facing at the same direction of the people (to avoid patriarchal oppression expressed in hierarchical structures)
    Nothing of the above is prohibited.

    Re Munich, just look at the sea of gray headed women.

  8. JustaSinner says:

    But the SSPX is schismatic…

  9. EAW says:

    These liturgical horrors belong in the Cloaca Maxima.

  10. Not says:

    I thought this was pretty horrific.. then Pope Leo comes out and opens discussions on women deacons, once again and again. This time there will be women in the discussion. heaven help us!

  11. Does anyone actually think that adds anything good or positive to the sacred Liturgy beyond being a distraction and takin focus off of Our Lord Jesus Christ?
