Paul then turns to the relationship of the teacher and the taught: “Let him who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches” (v. 6). κοινωνέω, koinōnéō, means to share or make another a partner. Those who receive ὁ λόγος, ho lógos, “the word,” owe support to those who faithfully teach it. “The Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel” (1 Cor 9:14). The “word” received embraces Scripture, sound catechesis, doctrine embodied in sacred worship, and the Word sacramentally present in the Eucharist. Gratitude for supernatural goods should be concrete.

Here in the Philippines (made obligatory by the Bishops’ Conference), the Mass for the Care of Creation is said instead of the 23rd Sunday in OT. esp given the context our country is currently facing. The homily for that Sunday did not focus only on the care of the environment (i.e. we are stewards) but also on how sin primarily affects our relationship with God and others. It’s my first time hearing a homily that doesn’t give too much focus or weight to environmental activism.
Every little thing we do to save souls matters. The widow of Naim was weeping over her son, and God returned him to her. The prayers of a mother are exceptionally powerful with God.

I am glad to hear that the Filipino bishops are giving heed to the requirement of the Spirit of Vatican II that we not allow the celebration of a Sunday to be impeded by the addition of other accretions to the calendar (he said, tongue burrowing a hole in his cheek).
Father preached on the importance of calling our family and friends out of their sins. Certainly nothing novel, but not what I expected to hear put so plainly, even though he’s usually pretty straight on such things.
