Franciscan University: TLM ALERT

From a reader:

Father, a happy and blessed Advent, and if you would be so kind:

This Sunday at 4:00pm the last Extraordinary Form Mass of the semester will be offered at Franciscan University, in Christ the King Chapel.

This is the last Sunday Mass of the semester.  How incredible is the progress, from fighting and fearing we had lost, to having the final Sunday send-off being in the TLM…

  1. Here is some more good news for Franciscan University of Steubenville fans….

At St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, a Dominican priest, who had been teaching at Providence College, gave an excellent presentation on the Motu Proprio and our Holy Father’s love for the extraordinary form to a packed audience on October 26.
This priest, we are told, has been transferred by the Dominican Order to the Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The Dominican who had been at the Franciscan University of Steubenville was transferred to Washington.
So, this is good news. There will be a Dominican who knows the TLM and can teach on the function of the Motu Proprio at Franciscan University in September.
    In Christ,
    Under the mercy,

    Dave Dowd
    Westbrook, Ct

  2. Peter Karl T. Perkins says:

Could someone give us an update on Steubenville? The fight has been so hard and so protracted. Come 2009, will there be an every-Sunday Mass either at St. Peter Church or the University?

    P.K.T.P.

  3. Boko says:

That is good news for FUS, Mr.Dowd, and for the Dominicans. I never understood why they removed Fr. Giles from such a recruiting hotbed. Pretty much abandoned it up to be the CFR’s farm system.

  4. I have a son at St. Bonaventure College who said to me he and his friend who is a theology major are grateful his Dad has been working on preserving the Traditional Latin Mass.
Their reason is most important. They recognize preserving the traditional form of the Mass is important.
My prayer is for the students at Franciscan University at Steubenville and at St Bonaventure to become more interested in the great tradition of our TLM !

  5. How refreshing it will be to have another “white OP duck” in a “black TOR pond”!

Do you by any chance have the name of the Dominican priest and theologian?
