    Thunderstorms here atm. I was hoping I could take my kids out to see what we could see past the almost-full moon.

    The 365 Days of Astronomy podcast had an episode (about 13 minutes) on these meteors.

    August 9, 2009 Perseids Meteor Shower.

    This year’s peak is predicted to occur on August 12 at around 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time.

    As one who still occasionally thinks in terms of kilocycles for radio frequencies, I smile when I see a reference to Greenwich Mean Time.

    It was cloudy and stormy last night-not much rain, but a lot of thunder and lightning.

    And my AM radio station that I listen to at night was crackling big time!

    Maybe it’ll be clearer tonight.

    I’ve seen meteor showers in November-pretty cool!

    As St. Teresa of Avila said once, ‘Blessed be He Who created thee!’

    Glad to know a Reliquary with the head of St Lawrence is in the Vatican library, wouldn’t it be good if we also had St Thomas More’s, or even St Edmund Campion’s?

    No, but we will be using the grill tonight in his honor. I do so love his quip about flipping him over in order to cook his other side. Humor and courage in the face of certain physical death.
