The Pope’s wrist

The great Fr. Blake of Brighton noticed the swelling of the Holy Father’s hand.

The Holy Father is now at Castel Gandolfo.

I once had a broken wrist which required surgery.  I laughed aloud when I read the optimistic note from the press office that he should be better in a month.  I was young and the Holy Father… is not.

Would you in your charity say a prayer – every day – specifically for the healing of the Pope’s wrist and hand?

Yes, Father, I do that every morning, asking that Our Lord will protect and heal the Holy Father physically and from all his enemies. It may well be that the latter is a source of greater pain….

Thank you for pointing this out. I will pray for him!

I will continue to pray for the Holy Father every day.

That said, I don’t think anyone should be the slightest bit anxious about this mild swelling. I’ve never seen anyone in a cast who didn’t look like this at some point.

  6. Dr. Eric says:

I offer my prayers through the intercession of Sts. Drogo and Stanislaus Kostka.

Yes, broken wrists swell. Odds are, too, that the Holy Father is a right-handed person which makes this difficult.

    Prayers for his continued recovery.

  8. Yes, and hands swell more when somebody is using that hand to read and write and do paperwork, and pointing it downwards in one’s sling for ease of walking and lifting and use, instead of keeping it properly elevated.

My hand swelled up a *lot* during the first month or so of my broken arm. The doctor and my mother got quite cross with me, and it didn’t feel that nice. But the work had to be done during the day, and I did keep it elevated pretty well at night. When the swelling got bad enough, I took it seriously and stopped pushing things so much.

The Holy Father is probably doing the same thing, since every time I see photos of him lately, his arm is not hitched up properly across his chest.

The Holy Father has my humbled prayers as I wish him to heal quickly so he can play his beloved piano….Maybe he was sneaking in a few measures in spite of his doctor’s advice…His rest is almost up I should think and soon he will return to St. Peter’s..

I pray for the Holy Father’s health AND the healing of his broken wrist every day in my Rosary.

Yeah Mitchell NY-I wonder if he was sneaking some music playing on the side!
