The Feeder… not the sty

I am getting lots of e-mails about horrible things going on.

I just don’t want to roll in the slime today, friends.  I know thing are bad in places and they should be exposed.

Instead, let’s just look at the feeder.

This young Goldfinch is still into begging for food from mom.  Remember that Goldfinches nest very late.

When they beg they flap and make little squeaky noises, like squeeze toys.

Happy Nuthatch.  No french fry.  Just a nut!

House Finch.  You can see them pretty well on the Z-Cam too.

Variety.

I think the other birds resent when the Red Bellied Woodpecker comes sailing in.

Right now there is a sale on feed at a local bird store.

Winter is coming!

They eat from your donations.

UPDATE 2231 GMT:

That Chickadee looked a little guilty.

Mother Mary->Thank you for our priest…especially Father “Z”!

  2. Luke says:

Ah! Perfect! Birds are miraculous in a way. We haven’t made anything that will flit off a twig and do a 180. Only God. Thanks Father Z! The feeder view is super.

  3. Jack Hughes says:

Just to think Father that your passion for Orthanthology means that your blog is listed by Government Censors as ‘too religious’ :)

  4. Random Friar says:

I think the Pixar short “For the Birds” was based on young goldfinches.

  5. Luke says:

Random Friar: I haven’t seen that short by Pixar yet. They do great work! I love they’re shorts with the squirrel and the acorn.

  6. Fr. John Mary says:

Glad the birdies survived the rain and wind we had yesterday. Today is a picture-perfect October day: sun, cool weather, BE-U-TEEFul autumn colors. Thank you, Lord!

    “Winter is coming.”

[nerd moment] Isn’t that the motto of House Stark in George R.R. Martin’s series? [/nerd moment]

  8. Agnes says:

Sometimes we need to pinch our noses against the smoke of Satan and just, enjoy life. Thank God for the birds and the french fries. Thank God for being “simply Catholic”.
