Many of them are starting to gear up for migration. Some are going to nest.
Here is a shot of what is going on with Red-Breasted Grosbeaks, which are in abundance this year.

There is an Oriole, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and at least 7 Grosbeaks, 1 male, 6 females.
These are mostly young birds. The adults have pretty much disappeared, gone south to stake out their territory.
There are only a few young males around and zillions of females. I counted a dozen at one point yesterday.
Right now you will see Grosbeaks very often when I have the Z-Cam tuned to one of the webcams close close to a feeder.
